Robert loved starting his day fishing with her. She'd wake him up every weekend the same way. "Are you ready daddy?" with big bright eyes. He'd smile and scratch his head and would say "Of course angel". After hurriedly getting dressed they would rush down their Nashville street to their favorite fishing hole. You'd wonder which was the adult and which was the kid form the excitement that was displayed. Never was about the fish really, as it was mostly about the conversations. Conversations about colors... plants...and all sorts of what ifs. What ifs that can only come form a five year old child.
One particular morning as they made their way down the trail Daisy said "I love walking though this trail, but it keeps on getting dirty daddy.".... and wouldn't ya believe she asked why next. "Well honey, we aren't the only ones who uses this trail and not everyone takes their trash back like we do. I don't like it either sweetie." he said compasonitly. "Daddy what if..." was just about to arive he thought correctly. "Daddy.....what if the army guys stopped doing wars and started cleaning up? Do you think it would happen fast daddy?". Robert lovingly looked at her and said "You should run for president.". "Not me." she said shurely "I'm gonna be a teacher....waaay more importanter." he laughingly agreed. "But how long daddy....how long would it take?" "If they all at once put down their guns and just immediately started....maybe months...a year...hard to tell sweetie."
By this time they had reached the honey hole and were just about to get their fishing gear ready when she asked "Daddy... do you want to pray about it?". "Of course angel....do you want to lead this time?" "You bet ya!" she said with assurance. "Get on your knees and really pray with me daddy...I mean really pray!" "Yes mam!" he said surly.
As they knelt there his heart and mind was simply amazed at what was coming from his little girls mouth. Her words were spoke with what only he could describe as angelically innocence. As he kept his promise to really, really pray with her he felt a feeling hit him he's never experienced. There were no words to describe it....no buzz from any substance he's ever ingested could touch this feeling....it was out of this world. Tears of joy and humility welled up as she went on with every word her sweet voice spoke. He knew this fishing trip would live in his heart forever.
As she finished and they both opened tear filled eyes she softly whispered "Daddy....did you feel that?" "Yes baby." he answered softly. "What was it?" "I believe that was God Daisy .....He was really listening....He was with us." "Yes daddy! He was!!! I believe He was!!!" she said falling into his arms. Although the hug was just a minute...for the both of them....it was the hug of all hugs....just like the one they just received from God...one they'll cherish forever.
After they released their embrace Robert looked at his little angel and said "Are you ready to fish now?" "Naaw." she replied "Can we pick up the trash instead?" He looked at her lovingly and said "Sure Mrs. President." and took the slug on the chest from her little hand. They didn't spare a second on getting started they moved just as fast and joyfully as they did getting ready to walk down the path. They had gathered everything they could fit into the bag they had and decided to come back with more after taking that bag back.
Upon ariving home to get more bags they over herd the news on the television. They usually leave it on for background noise but usually on a kids shows. They wondered what news could interrupt this station its for children. As they stood there listening to the report their jaws dropped in amazement. Seems that not only them two felt that warm feeling during the prayer.....but the rest of the world did too! Not only that...Daisy's prayer was herd too! Nobody could explain it, but no one needed to anyways....it was a miricale! One that changed the world....one that stopped all the fighting and division....one....what if.
