Better Days
“In rebuilding a broken world, we will have the chance to choose a less hurried life.” – Dr. Alan Lightman I baked cookies! That’s right, for the first time in over seven years, I baked homemade chocolate chip cookies. I was a little nervous because baking has never been my strength in the kitchen (probably because I am not good at following directions). But, guess what?! They turned out great – so great, in fact, that I am afraid to try again in case this time was a fluke or beginner’s luck. Although, my opinion of their quality might be influenced by my recent abandonment of a sugar-free, gluten-free lifestyle.

Quintessentially Human
I’ve often wondered why it is in the evolution of mankind that, even when we arrive at a great solution to a problem or need, that we don’t just say that’s it, and settle for that? No, we fiddle, we change, we innovate. Nothing is ever static, like evolution itself, except that we innovate just a little quicker.

What Is Making Me Happy Right Now
Believe it or not, it's okay to be happy right now! Think about all the good that is happening in the world. The videos of recovered patients being applauded as they are discharged from the hospital. Making homemade masks. Car parades. People fostering homeless pets. Everyone is coming together to help one another, and it's amazing. I don't think I've ever seen so much unity among us before. We really are, as they say, "all in this together."

Elevating Mindset
When someone says, “Hey, can I take 5 minutes of your time.” Most people stray away. But what if those 5 minutes add value to your life? You see, 5 minutes can be spent eating a bag of chips, sitting on a toilet, or reading a tweet that’ll only satisfy you for a short amount of time. If you put a timeframe on something, you start thinking about how much time it’s going to waste. If you start thinking from an opportunistic standpoint, you would tell yourself, “Okay, I’ll give this a shot, try me.” It gives you doors that could possibly open interests that you might have never thought about before.

What do you believe?
When you have a college resume, meeting someone new or trying to find yourself many people start by asking if they know who they are. Even then it’s okay to not know because sometimes time is infinite and you can find out eventually but if you don’t know who you are how can you expect to get respect, love or even acknowledgment.

Sacrifices
There are days where I just sit down and think. Life requires a lot of sacrifices. Sometimes we fantasize about a world with less responsibility. Of course it would be ideal but things just doesn’t work in that fashion. Can I speak on the real sacrifice of being a single mom. Lack of time to take care of yourself. There are days I hide in the bathroom just for a break. It isn’t easy not having a chance to breathe. Time to myself would be amazing but mom duties calls. Giving majority of my time to little human beings can be exhausting. They will grow up to become amazing people. All of my hard work pays off. Let’s speak on the sadness sometimes. Not being able to cry in peace, wanting to lay in bed some days and never getting up. I’ve dealt with depression 10 plus years and sometimes it comes back knocking on my door. Simply getting up to cook would cause me to feel sick inside. This is the side of motherhood that never gets talked about. Days were I feel life just doesn’t have purpose. Same routine over and over can become boring. For the women that are tired and feeling unfulfilled. I understand how you feel and once felt that way. I know as women we have to make a lot of sacrifices but one day things will be better. I’m not ashamed to say there were days I wished for a better life. Asking why did I create this type of life.....

What makes us afraid
Fear is like a door that tugs onto our cloth which prevents us to leave or pass through. It is always there like a voice in our head telling us things that am pretty sure are illusions. That's how powerful the human mind is,it can create and destroy. It can form scenarios, events, pictures that can be true or untrue.

100 Ways to Transform Creative Burnout
It is actually scientifically proven that humans are less creative when experiencing chronic stress. The complete upending of life that we have experienced collectively during the pandemic has forced our brains into a fight, flight, or freeze mode. This means we are narrowly focusing our energy on survival, with little to spare for creative productivity. Consider this list as a permission slip to be in your feels, take a break from the grind, and find some pleasure during this wild time.
