Reso... what?
I kicked resolutions in the ass many years ago. I kept on exploring changing this or changing that, only to fail miserably a few weeks later (if I even managed to last weeks and not days). No, resolutions seemed more like a made up marketing trick to get us to join gyms, eat certain foods, buy certain goods… just changing habits without actually believing that we were capable of change.

Do Not Make a Resolution...
Every year on the dawn of January 1st people wake up and plan a lofty list of resolutions for their year. Some are simple, like going to drink more water, or going to buy this thing I have put off for the last few years. Others however, are life changing acts, such as loosing 200lbs over the next year. Or deciding to finally get married. Most give up within a few weeks, others burn out after a few months, and then there are those who really desire change. The ones that follow through, endure, and inspire.

Letting go of 2020 and facing ourselves courageously
2020, I’ll never forget you. You brought me to my knees. You enlightened my life through the seclusion of my soul. Being closed off from society with the least human contact brought me closer to who I truly am; it aligned me closer to my soul.

Invest in Yourself
There’s nothing like creating a resolution at the beginning of the year and then, realizing at the end of the year, that the resolutions previously created, haven’t been conquered. Disappointment seeps and seethes this deepening dark abyss of failure that the resolution had not been followed through. Hence, these resolutions are being rebranded as goals.

Eat a Mudpie.
Remember making mud pies? One good, hard rain and the next day- the baking ensues. If you’re really good, you add acorns to the top. Sometimes you’d crush some pinecones and decorate the edges. Add some twigs to the siding. Sprinkle a handful of pebbles. Place a dandelion or two.

Before I Start, I'm Giving Up
I have decided that I am giving up big time this year! I mean, really just letting go. You might say, didn’t we do that last year? Wasn’t that what 2020 was all about? Actually, no, not for me. While we might have spent more time in our pajamas than we’d ever dreamed possible, that is not the giving up that I’m talking about.

Have You Ever let a Resolution Make Itself?
I feel as though I spent every waking minute of 2020 in a deep, introspective haze. I was constantly observing and evaluating my thoughts, emotions, and reactions to things. I felt a huge pull to go inward and take an honest look at the traits and beliefs I still held on to and question them. I was fed up with my own excuses and was ready to create the life I desired.

The cave of wonders.
I think I checked out? 🌎 Somewhere between childhood and at 19 after having a my oldest child. Scratch that actually I’ve always been strange and weird. I feel like an alien on this planet. I’d prefer to sit in my own mind because that’s where the fun happens. Out there in the dull, chaotic world there is too much noise.
