How to heal fully and properly.
A New Beginning
“It is a pleasure to finally meet you in person, Mr Gladieu. Your first articles are quite well-received, as my colleague, Dr. Feroe, tells me.” The lady in the middle of the panel sitting opposite the young man had a reputation. A former Crown prosecutor, the Associate Minister was a behemoth in discussions. The government had ran, and won, on a platform of job creation and a revival of industry. The area's fortunes would be due to her expert and proven ability. And, now, at this review, she would successfully slough another request. Which is why she was so formidable at her job, and baleful to her opponents.

Welcome to my heartbreak
What other words can describe what I feel, what I felt when you told me it was over. My whole world collapsed with your words, your kisses, and your touch. I deeply felt that my world was ending because of you, Maria. I put everything in this; my future, my life, my heart.

Turning Money Into Gold
There was a window and above the windowpane on the wall wrote FAKE WINDOW in thick black letters. THE SCENERY IS FILM. I looked around at my other two options: an old wooden, cracked door with a black X on the frame and another door adjacent from the last was just as old and stained from dirt, but padlocked. If I take the door with the X would I be leading myself astray?

Mary's Last Shift
There was nothing remarkable about the old woman who worked the admission counter at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. No one knew much about her except for the name listed on her name tag, Mary, and that she worked at that counter for decades. Co-workers assumed she must have had dire financial struggles since working a low-waged job for all those years couldn’t possibly be her choice. Many took notice of her peculiar habit of cycling through the same four different outfits, which some even had fun “betting” on which one she would wear that day. For those that worked alongside her, it was suspected that her health must have been poor due to a slight tremble, which became more pronounced through the years.

119
I am one of six, the only girl with five brothers; 3 older, 2 younger; the princess you would call me, far from it. Now I do not want my writing to come across as if I am bashing my mother, we have never been in a great stance, but we’ve have come far from where we used to be, and I am grateful; for me to deliver my story, through my own perspective I need to write on my perspective at the time, and at the time I was a child.

Leap
“This is going to take forever!” Eloise said as she stood with her hands on her hips. “We’ve got this! Let’s dig in!” Emelia asserted as she headed towards a stack of trinkets that looked like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. She and Ellie were starting to make some headway on the mess in the attic of their childhood home. A few months ago, their parents told them that they were going to sell the home and move closer to the beach. It had always been a dream of their mothers to have a home on the beach. As much as they loved their childhood home, they understood why their parents were moving. The house sold very quickly. And just like that, their parents found their dream beach home. They were going to miss the one place that they could always call “home”.

Overcoming the Demons
The lighter flicked, bringing to life the bright embers in a dark room, stale from sweat and dirty clothes, as smoke filled her lungs. Laying in the dark, listening to the silence around her, she contemplates all the reasons she had to get up. Sitting up and feeling her knee crack and her hip pop she slowly put on her tattered, slate gray sweats. She’s had the same pair of sweats for years and even though she’s purchased new ones, these ones hug her in just the right way to give her the comfort she just can’t replace.

Unexpected Wisdom From A Little Black Book
It was a bitterly cold day when I left my mother's recently unoccupied, two-bedroom apartment. I carried a box of decorative owls that were on route to Good Will before I made the hour and a half trek back home. Trying to balance this awkwardly packed box on my knee as I fumbled with frozen fingers with the trunk key proved to be ineffective, as the box, and most of its contents, crashed to the ground. "Goddamn it!" I snarled as I saw shards of shattered beaks and large, seemingly disapproving eyes scattered about. I could almost hear my Mother chastising my clumsiness as I rubbed my temples from the day's emotionally and physically draining activities.

MY ONLY REGRET
My day started the same as any other day over the past sixteen years. Hearing the sounds of the city waking up as the countless multitudes scurried to their cubicles of life. I managed to arise to another self induced day full of regret and loathing. My life wasn't always as it is now. I can faintly remember coming home to a beautiful family, the palatial retreat, and the sounds of my two year old daughter's feet making the echoing joy that would flood my heart. This lifestyle was expected from a senior partner at the firm I had help start with my best friend from childhood. The vision I had since childhood of what I believed was the ultimate sign of success had taken root and I was bearing the fruit. What else could I ask for , a great career, a loving wife, a healthy child, a beautiful home, and my best friend that I worked with side by side for many years. This was all about to change and I never seen it coming. After all I perceived that I had the perfect life. My life was my joy.
