happiness
Happiness, defined; things that help you find happiness, keep it, and share it with others.
Acquire Power Through Self Development
It is the natural right of every human being to be happy to escape all the miseries of life. Happiness is the normal condition, as natural as the landscapes and the seasons. It is unnatural to suffer and it is only because of our ignorance that we do suffer. Happiness is the product of wisdom. To attain perfect wisdom, to comprehend fully the purpose of life, to realize completely the relationship of human beings to each other, is to put an end to all suffering, to escape every ill and evil that afflicts us. Perfect wisdom is unshadowed joy.

Motivation To Keep You Moving During Lockdown!
When the world first came crashing to a halt back in March my routine was completely thrown out the window. I lead a relatively active lifestyle, I swim every other day, I try to go to the gym a few times a week, I do yoga, I’m generally on the go rushing from one place to the next. And suddenly, I wasn’t doing any of these things, I couldn’t swim, I couldn’t do classes at the gym, there was nowhere for me to be. I felt the effect this had on the body, initally my mood was low, my routine was thrown out of the window. Luckily I managed to figure out a way to keep my body active, moving, from my very own home, which ultimately resulted in a better mood and lots of positive endorphins without leaving my own home.

Settling for less, longing for more
Sometimes relationships keep existing because people have chosen to trade true happiness for comfortable numbness. I wonder how many folks get to ask themselves this: When in our lives do we reach the point of killing our dreams and settling for safety?

Insights from the Surf World
What inspires you? What brings you so much excitement and pure joy and yet calms your mind and heart completely at the same time? For me, it is the ocean and the beautiful sport of surfing! In January 2019, I decided that I would interview as many surfers and surf photographers from around the world as possible to learn from them and gain their diverse perspectives.

Football, golf, and wine
Life is quiet moments, followed by chaos followed by quiet moments. This week for me has been a series of football games, golf tournaments followed by football games. All had wine involved, or something stronger. One thing I have learned is alcohol is an interesting thing. I do not have anything against drinking or others drinking, but I have learned that my friends drink a lot. Its all within a responsible realm, no one got drunk, no one drove while tipsy, but every evening meal was accompanied by a drink. We drank beer and wine while we cheered for the different football teams. We cheered with drinks when the favorite golfers played well and a favorite won. There was never any conversation about how much someone was drinking or that drinking was wrong. The people around me joked and had fun and accepted the drinking as part of the fun. The conversation was around the events happening. We also teased about what wine tasted better and which foods were better for us and which we just wanted. There was no judgment, no fear, hate for things that just are.

Things I'm Passionate About Part 4
This is part 4 in my series of subjects I’m passionate about, buckle in! 1. Cyborgs, Cybernetics, and Transhumanism This is a long-time love of mine stemming as far back as 80s sci-fi action movies. The idea that we can combine our biology with technology to create something new to define as “humanity” still makes my imagination get excited with the possibilities even after all these years. I was one of the original users of the Better Humans original website about transhumanism I think 17 years or so ago and one of the first subscribers to h+ magazine as I recall. I’d like to expand on this interest with profiles of my favorite cyborgs from fiction and reality, what I think a cyborg is versus say a pseudo-cyborg, cybernetics technologies and how they’ve advanced over the years both in sophistication but also in social acceptance, and transhumanism itself as a concept in my personal viewpoints. This subject is as much about pop-culture and technological advancement as it is about philosophy, psychology, and the progress of humanity as a whole. It’s a far-reaching umbrella that I have a LOT to say about.

There's Something Liberating About Being Lost
We got lost looking for the Grand Canyon. The GPS in my sisters' car almost always got her where she needed to go. Emphasis on 'almost'. The one time it didn’t was when we left our hotel room on Saturday, got into her minivan and turned it on; our location? The Grand Canyon Visitors Center. And then we were off. We drove along a highway but soon got off it into a road lined with the scrubby desert trees, snow and ice still clinging to the earth on presidents day weekend in February.

Present Day Madness
For those of you who do not know me, just know that I am a creative that is trying to make way for myself during all of this mania. I am a small business owner, I am a woman of color, I am a military veteran, I am a writer, I am a poet, I am.....insert something else cool and maybe interesting. At the top of this year, like most of us, I had a plan of attack. I was going to quit the corporate food job that I was currently working because it felt soul sucking, I had made plans to be able to do that transition in a way that was safe to me for me financially and then some things happened - the world as I knew it imploded on itself and I've been on this roller coaster ever since. It started with a series of wild events that prompted me to walk out of my job months before I was going to because I was sick of all of it and it felt like a toxic environment had just boiled over. Then I got crazy sick out of nowhere to the point that I thought I was going to die and I didn't know what this was and more importantly where any of it came from. It was 3 weeks of hell that started as what I thought was a UTI, then possibly a kidney infection, then landed on me shivering and shaking on the couch so hard that my teeth felt like they were going to crack upon sheer impact. I made it out of that though, on the otherside of a disease that is and has been killing people all year. Its terrifying.

Stay Humble
Having been the person that used to complain about doing laundry, I wish I hadn’t. Sitting on the floor of a laundromat because there is one bench, not to mention the change machine is non-existent and half of the machines are broken, I’d do anything to have a washing machine and dryer in my home again. This is far worse than ever throwing clothes in and turning them on in my kitchen while doing anything else I wanted to during that time period.
