happiness
Happiness, defined; things that help you find happiness, keep it, and share it with others.
I got fired
“Please don’t take it personally, but your job is not sustainable anymore.” One sentence and I want to cry for joy. Many others would probably burst into tears. So why am I happy? Especially in these times, it’s better to have a job than not have one, isn’t it? Not for me.

Dear 2021
Dear 2021: To say that I have been anticipating your arrival would be a gross understatement. Every new year brings the promise of optimism, positive change, growth, and new beginnings. However, given how your younger sibling 2020 wreaked absolute havoc upon the world, there is so much pressure upon you to bring this and so much more. I think I can speak for all of us that we are hoping that you are the relief that we have been hoping for; we are waiting with bated breath to see if you, 2021, will bring about a healing that we so desperately need. We are counting on you to be the year that this hellscape called reality finally transforms into something we can all look forward to. If nothing else, we need you to be the year that order begin to be restored and recovery from a hellacious 2020 can begin.

ISOLATION
Isolation... Something we've all too recently become acquainted with lately.. It can be a heart wrenching experience for some or a sort of welcome friend to others. 2020 has forced change into so many lives where it once was filled with this incessant call for uniformity and strict schedules. However you chose to interpret your predispositions to setting new years resolutions in 2019, I'm sure you hadn't the slightest clue they were to regrettably become nullified and with it, any hope for an exciting year ahead of us as the months passed us by leading into April.

Alaska
I did not dare to walk alone at night. Not because I was worried a person would attack me, but because I didn’t want to startle an unseen bear. I would sit on the edge of a forty foot cliff overlooking Auke Bay and watch the setting sun fall behind the Chilkat mountains. Wild Alaska was what I expected. The effect it had on me, however, I never could have predicted. My main purpose in moving to the Last Frontier for five months was to earn money for school as a seasonal worker. I was so ignorant when I made the decision to go. I thought I hated it at first. When I got there, it rained everyday for three weeks. I was cold and miserable. My body felt heavy and too much to carry out of bed. I despised how the mountains were covered in clouds all the time. I loathed the cawing ravens. If I wasn’t working, I stayed home. When I was working, I begrudgingly drove my coach bus full of passengers that came to see beautiful Alaska. They were just as disappointed as I was. I truly thought nothing could be worse.

A positive life
Let me start by saying, life can be pretty incredible if you let it. This is a sentence I never would have believed 10 years ago. The reason I say 10 years ago, is this is when it all began. I was given the book The Secret by Rhonda Bryne on CD. I would listen to this book every day on my way to work and any other time I was in the car. I listened to the CD set so often, I could almost quote the whole thing. I listened, but I did not hear.

Goodbye 2020, hello 2021
I am writing this post at the end of 2020, in the month of December, and wow what a year it has been! Truly, what a wild ride, and I know I am not the only one who feels this way, 2020 has brought tremendous changes to the world and it feels to me like this is only the beginning.

What Will the New Year Bring Us?
2020 Be Gone! It’s the last day of the year 2020—the year of the global pandemic, COVID-19. It's new year’s eve and everyone is looking forward to the beginning of 2021, new hopes, new dreams, and new ventures. The social media venues are full of posts condemning 2020. The year 2020 brought so much heartache, hatred, disappointment, and loss to so many. Loss of lives, jobs, homes, and dreams.

Three Day Contemplation
You don’t realize how significantly words can evolve until you provide space to contemplate them over time. For this assignment I chose one of Thich Nhat Hanh’s quotes from page seventy- nine; “If one wants a calm sea one cannot get it by suppressing the stormy sea. One must wait for this same sea to become calm”. I decided to break up the quote on day one and two and consider it from different lenses on day three and four.

These 6 Lessons I learned in 2020
Finally, it's over! The year which the majority of us hated is finally coming to an end. Can we be more thankful? Perhaps, or perhaps not. At the end of every hardship, we are left with plenty of lessons, and for 2020 I cannot stress enough.
