My Spiritual Journey: The Beautiful Beginning to Self-Transformation
College became the first major step in my life that started changing me to want to be better and do better. I went to a Christian college, and it incorporated the bible into my learning. They put the teaching in terms I could understand. My four years lead me to be more open to my beliefs and my actions. I am that person who will do a random act of kindness and not tell others what I did. That action is between me and the universe. Why? That should not be a question. I believe in the power of kindness, love, and I believe what you put into the universe, you get back.

To Stay Happy
To Stay Happy should be an ambition for us all and maybe it is. Being happy makes our life better and helps us to get on with others, create and generally feel good. It improves our health, makes us better friends and helps us be in a position to help others.

Drawing Down the Moon
The phrase ādrawing down the moonā comes from a traditionally Wiccan ritual in which a priestess evokes the Goddess to use her body as a vessel. It conjures the image of a woman standing tall with arms outstretched to the full moon above. To evoke a deity is, of course, a sacred practice and one that I am not even close to emulating. My hopes lie within its symbolism. If I can view my body, my mind, and my spirit as part of the divine and worthy of care, then I will have won a lifelong battle with myself. Years ago, my spiritual awakening opened up an unexpected path to let me finally see my body as more than a burden. My resolution this year is to continue that journey with grace and determination.

Bringing Back Childhood Joy. Top Story - January 2022.
The light clicked off and I waited, eyes shut tight, as the footsteps faded down the hallway. I knew I should probably wait a little longer ā adults were tricky beings ā but I couldn't. I just couldn't. My hand slowly crept toward the edge of my bed and down under the mattress where my stolen flashlight hid during the day.

Message on a Platform
As a new writer on Vocal, Iāve been trying out different things. My preferred writing style is fiction, stream of consciousness and poetry. I grew up wanting to be a singer/songwriter. I still do, but music isnāt my focus currently. Writing is. I used to write SO much. A few jobs I had where I sat at a desk; my notebook would be open just out of view, and Iād be writing. One job in particular, (I was in college for music at the time) I had a computer at my desk. This was in the age of MySpace. That blog was filled with stories that Iād written while at work. Never was there any type of outline or preconceived plot. I would just sit there and observe people walking in and out of the building. The custodians cleaning and such. Sounds from the building or on the street. Conversations and other interactions that I had; My imagination would create characters and a motivation and all of it would form itself into a story. I wrote so many stories on that blog... I want to recover them.

Want to be eternally happy? Being miserable and thinking of negative thoughts helps!!
Happiness for me is an elusive virtue and for the most part āthink positiveā belief fails me as a miracle fizz for mental wellness; one that you could pop in and instantly make half empty glass turn half full and everything around is suddenly bright and sunny. But just because I generally donāt eye the world from behind those rose tinted glasses, doesnāt mean that somethingās wrong with me!

Two sticks and a toy drum
It was 2008, and I had just two years prior abandoned what I thought was my dream profession as a pilot. I'd been back in the United States with our baby for about 6 months and was in the midst of a job crisis. I knew two things: how to fly planes and how to teach. I'd realized that until I put myself in a situation where I could give a specific type of life for our child, I'd be a fairly unhappy person to be around.
