To Find Peace. An Owl's Story.
High up in some softer white bark trees, in a little forest area, a soft rustling noise caught the attention of one smaller looking barn owl. The slowly setting sun's light filtered through the leaves in the trees, reaching her eyes and disturbing her slumber. The forest was still, as this was the time when the day creatures startled to settle down, but most of the night creatures had yet to arise. Like the typical owl, she was nocturnal, but she was not a common barn owl, no. A very long time ago, she was stolen from her home, from warm islands far away from where she was now.

The Hero you are
What exactly is a hero? We have examples of them everywhere, but these examples, in my opinion, are very narrow. They often imply that a hero makes no mistakes or has no faults. The only flaws they have are being too generous, holding the whole world up that they forget about the moon. That's probably why most hero's or legends have to be exposed to a supernatural idea, setting, or privilege.

Just Give Me A Moment
Today, I stuttered openly at my work while I was in court presenting a case. It was for a couple of moments at most, but it felt like it lasted forever. A few people around exchanged glances and then looked back at me in a way I interpreted as, "What's wrong with her?" like I was incompetent or stupid. Even though I've become used to this kind of reaction after dealing with stuttering for the past 20 years of my life, I still felt incompetent and stupid for the rest of the time I was at the bench on that case. And even though I was well aware that I was the only person in the courtroom who knew every last detail the judge might need to know, I still couldn't shake the thought that constantly crept into my consciousness at times like these - what did it matter? I could have all the answers to all the questions in the entire world, but if I couldn't say them articulately, with poise and precision, then who would want to even listen to me at all?

"Love?" or "Love."
Full. Whole. Complete. What does it mean to feel complete? Would you know it if you had it—that sense of wholeness? Of course, you would. The sad part is that many of us go to others to help us achieve wholeness when we should be learning to be whole for ourselves, by ourselves. Maybe it’s a lack of balance. It’s tough trying to keep everything aligned. Bills, kids, cleaning, and maintaining. There’s work life, home life, and “free” life. Free life is the time you give yourself to live and have fun without worry or stress over everything else listed, and whatever else is involved.

My secret to a blithesome married life: Love, loss and a few grains of happiness!!
Every one has vampires in their lives and like every relationship, marriage too is a ridiculously complicated one. It’s simple and easy to believe… that if only both individuals could get to know each other, understand each other’s needs and get comfortable with their surroundings, living a life with all its dark pleasures and experiences- healthy or unhealthy; would work epic.

THE SPECTER OF HUMAN GRIEF
De Blasio the ex-mayor of New York City was replaced by Eric Adams who vehemently promises to work with the Police Department and bring changes to New York City terrorized by guns. De Blasio failed terribly, these past two years he got criticized for his inability to govern and control guns. He was in office throughout the pandemic and saw how devastating it was from the East Side to the West Side and through all the other three boroughs. He was unable to defeat it with all the power given to him. Governor Andrew Cuomo was blamed for the thousands of deaths which were senor citizens with Covid-19, he put them in Senior Adults Communities infecting others as well. People were dropping like flies, death was everywhere. Everybody was scared and did what they could not be getting infected with the virus. I took public transportation to get to work and wore my mask, washed my hands constantly, and watched Fox News for updates. I read extensively, informing myself. Knowledge is necessary for this age of evolution and chaos. Perhaps I was the most frightening human being on this planet, shunning everybody thinking they would give me the virus; if somebody coughed or sneezed, I moved away from them keeping the distance. Yes, Covid-19 and Omicron are airborne and I did as they suggested on TV to wipe down everything: remote controls, computer boards, kitchen counters, doorknobs. I inhaled so much fume from disinfectants that I got sick from them. I needed to put a stop to my obsession and come to grips with reality. Was I the only one feeling that way? I saw people do exactly what I did and it brought some relief amid the horrors of catching the disease by staying positive that things would eventually have gotten better, and be able to breathe once again without worries.

This Is How I Finally My Mentor After Years Of Searching
Without the luxury of a mother taking care of us, we'd be lost. Nine years ago. That was the first time I heard about having a mentor. I had just dropped out of high school, broke up with my girlfriend, and had to carry this overweight body I grew to hate for the last two decades.

Courage is Required to Live
It's been ages since I've blogged. I've been processing. There's so much to process right now in our world and even my own world. I've been meditating deeply, praying daily, and journaling often. I've been focused on keeping myself hopeful and happy. Sometimes I have so much to share but have a hard time organizing my thoughts. There are two themes that keep recurring for me - that's courage and power. Not only do we need courage to live this life but we have to remember to acknowledge our power often.

Hometown Heros
When one thinks of a word a hero, the first picture that comes to mind is that of a Greek or Roman warrior, muscular, tall and just returning from the battle, admired and worshipped by the people. In contrast, today’s heroes live silent lives and are usually not that famous. For many people, the word hero makes them think of caped crusaders or Hollywood characters with a muscular physique, square jaw line and who spend their days rescuing women from burning buildings or sinking ships.

So I ran a 10K after losing 40 pounds (and beating long covid) in my 30's
The last time I paid to run was in high school (over 10 years ago). I ran a half marathon on two separate occasions- once with my dad and the other with some fellow cross country team friends. The first was a nice father/daughter bonding experience. Unlike me at the time, my dad was not an avid runner before he started training with me. But he dedicated himself to the cause and ended up finishing the half marathon with a great beginner time, despite battling scoliosis. We still remember it fondly.
