Already Within
HONK, HONK, HONK, HONK. My alarm is obnoxious, I need to change it already. I hate the discomfort of my twisted pajamas coiled around my body the moment I open my eyes. I hate the crumbs in my bed from Winston’s bone that he gnaws on before bedtime. I hate the sunlight that pierces through the magnificent skyrise view I once dreamed of directly to my burning, dried out eyeballs.

Independence
Jaimie Johnson was running again. Feeling the cool dirt beneath her feet which she found were free of the constraints of shoes and socks. Her favourite feeling in the world. She often wonders why people don’t just run everywhere. For example, when most find themselves forgetting something and then realising it on the way out the door, throw back their head, sigh, wheel around, and grumble about how nothing ever goes right, agonising over the fact that they were now going to be late. Jaimie loves the freedom and the thrill of the run though, the exhilaration and the clarity she feels in her mind when her physical body is doing something it was freely meant to do. Perhaps if this basic human privilege hadn’t been ripped away from her after her accident, maybe she too would take the simple things in life for granted. Now, if she needs something, she needs to think of it before the nurse leaves, or she just goes without whatever it is she needs or has forgotten. Jaime hears her name being called over and over, and she senses the exasperation in the voice. But no, she thinks to herself. Not yet.

It's The Libra In Me
As a person who takes pride in my identity as an individual above all else — it would seem a hard pill to swallow when analyzing star signs. The idea that based on your date of birth, the stars align and assigns your personality traits. These traits would then dictate how you maneuver in this life. From imposing strengths and weaknesses to even your compatibility with other individuals. How dare the stars choose for me this way? Worst yet, why would they invite millions of others to share in the traits that shape my personality? The most unique part of myself. A crucial element that sets me apart and enables me to stand out. Accepting my star sign must surely be another way to place me in a box. So, why would an individual like myself find any value in it, right?

New Phone Who Dis
The day I realized I wasn’t going to be a professional athlete, I found myself wondering what the next thing was going to be. I was 26 at the time and I’d put everything I'd had into sports. If you haven’t made it by 26, you need to start looking into doing something else and I was finally able to admit that to myself.

Are You Inspired or Influenced?
To achieve most of our goals, we look for several things. Some of them are knowledge, learning, guidance, wisdom, motivation, and inspiration. In the process, we look up to few individuals around us to receive one or more of the above-said things.

Fiction?
I want to start off by saying I’m not a comedian; I’m a writer. And this is a fiction piece, so please read it as such. Our tale begins on a normal day as most unordinary stories do. School was the number one priority because unlike the tower of Babel, I’m not going to just start speaking in fluent Spanish. Yes; “I” or me. I’m your protangonist. You may be thinking, the audacity of her to think of herself intriguing enough to play the lead! To that I say, do remember, dear reader, this is a work of fiction. For all you know, the character I’m portraying is nothing like myself! ( But for your sake, I’ll let you know that that isn’t the case.) I’m me and me is the same as “I” as I always am. And the day of our beginning has now begun, so let's continue.
