Sprinkling the World with Blank Canvases
I have always been fascinated by the creative spark that has driven humans to innovate for the last 60,000 years. I deeply believe that if access to tools and spaces that inspire creative execution were ubiquitous, more of the world would be empowered to further social progress, and solutions to our greatest challenges would move forward like wildfire.

Sonic Boom
There was always something enticing to me about sounds and notes, there was something that magnetically drew me to pick up an instrument and learn the intricacies of how to put notes on a page together that pursuit of curiosity lead me to study at the esteemed Berklee College of music for Music Composition & Film music.

Bankin on LeBoomin
I had one semester left and my parents thought I was crazy when I dropped out of mechanical engineering school, but I had just signed to a label and thought that it would be the start to the future I had always wanted. It wasn’t. Having been producing music since I was 10, DJing in Miami for my entire life, I knew I had to follow my passion. Instead of fulfillment, my decision steered me toward engineering for A-list artists, and the “success” of producing epic tracks that were split between other producers higher in rank. The long hours in the studio left little room for my own creativity, I felt stifled. I missed creating powerful tracks and having the freedom to play anything I wanted to play. Something just kept feeling off, so I walked away, back to my greatest love, being a DJ. DJs are a dime a dozen in Miami, so I spent my days trying to book clubs or chase down payments. It was a miserable process that ultimately left me lost and irritated once more. Some part of me regretted leaving the life I had, and I wasn’t so passionate about my passion anymore. Engineering and music have one big thing in common that I also love, technology. I began producing for anyone and everyone on my own terms, and simultaneously invested more and more energy into learning crypto currency. I still wasn’t satisfied, and I felt like I was opening doors that just lead to more doors, that lead nowhere. Finally, I sat down and just thought; “How can I DJ whenever and wherever I want? How can I produce live, bring people together, to connect with people outside the walls of this studio and do it without a nightclub? How can I monetize and incorporate crypto?” I wasn’t sure. I soon realized that my passion isn’t just producing, engineering, or even DJing. My passion is creating unique music that can bring people together and allow them to share a feeling or connection, witness something completely unexpected and unplanned. I like to stir the pot, I like to amplify… and I also like cars. My passion had a name, LeBoomin, the pop-up party, crypto musiccar. I took everything I knew and loved and decided that creating a portable club/stage would be the only way to achieve my dreams. I grew up with my grandmother, Nanni, and she had a LeBaron, so I decided to buy the same one she had. It was old and beaten up and perfect for this project. To preface this, my dad had always dreamed of being a car mechanic but was encouraged to follow another path. It didn’t stop him from teaching me everything that he knew about cars. I thought I was ready with the knowledge and passion that I felt, but what I thought would take months, took years. What I was trying to do hadn’t been done yet so there were no tutorials to follow and trial and error became my go-to method. Mechanical engineering helped me tremendously while building LeBoomin and getting it to run. I used my experience in studio wiring and club audio to create its sound system.

Sup-prose-d to Write it Right
What does it mean to "be fulfilled"? It is defined in the Oxford Dictionary as: satisfied or happy because of fully developing one's abilities or character. By that definition it would seem I am not completely fulfilled, as my hunger for knowledge and understanding of nearly any given topic is insatiable and seems there is always more to learn.

A dream to redeem
How I got here It was a translucent paper with a poorly drawn mermaid on top & a sea background. My brother was moving the top see through layer from side to side on top of the background painting. I was mesmerised by the magic taking place right in front of me. The mermaid appeared to be swimming in the patched water colored background but in my 5 year old mind this was a scene from an animated movie.

Madness 2 Magic
There’s a chair in the road covered by a sheet, and I am underneath it. I can’t see through the sheet but I’m sure a crowd has gathered by now. It’s hot in Wynwood, Miami, so part of me is second-guessing my decision to begin this way. Behind me is sits a holographic “musicar”, a customized old convertible with pop-up turntables, equipped the sound system of a nightclub. LEDs, that cover the car, are flashing in sync with the eerie music as fog builds around me. In-ear monitors allow us to speak to each other though our microphones privately. I ask, “is everyone ready?” and he replies, “Are you?” I’m never ready, and deeming them butterflies in my stomach would be an understatement, because it feels more like fireworks. So I close my eyes for a few seconds, and when I open them back up, I am someone entirely new… and she is always ready. She can tap into and exude any emotion; she becomes whoever I need her to be. “Yes” I reply as I slump in my chair under the sheet on a hot night in Miami. Tonight I am a machine, just like the car behind me. Tonight we become one.

My Passion is the Future
My name is James Evans and my passion is the future… for me, you, and Humankind as a whole. In order to explain what I mean by that, I’ll tell you a little bit about myself for context. I’m a 31 year-old male, born and raised in Northern Virginia. I have a loving family and a job that doesn’t pay as much as it should. The only form of creative expression I have any talent for is writing, but I regularly feel as if I’d be neglecting other parts of my life by doing so with regularity. I am rarely satisfied with anything and I’ve almost never shown people any of my writing. If I publish this, it will be my first published work associated with my actual name, but far from my first written work ever. The topic of this challenge from Vocal™ and Memberful™ is an important one because in our society: if you want the time to commit to your passions, you need to monetize them. They’ve challenged Vocal™ members to do just that. This got me not only considering my passions, but also heavily weighing my options for ever making a living from them. I’m a passionate person. I’m passionate about passion, I’m passionate about other’s passions, but most importantly: I’m passionate about progress, innovation, and improving and expanding on the human life experience. All of these are things I associate with the future. I struggled with that in the past. I believe that many of today’s best science-fiction and futurism writers are inspired not by personal visions of a better world, but exclusively by research done only on the technologies that modern science informs us will potentially exist in the near future. That’s where I hope my future readership will recognize a few qualities of mine, through my writing, that they want to see more of: vision, imagination, and a genuine desire for improvement both person and in the world at large.

The story behind the facade
The house across the street from where I’ve lived the last seven years was always my favorite in the neighborhood. It was tall, regal, storybook like. When it went up for sale a few years ago, I considered selling my house and moving but it was too expensive. Another family moved in and I admired them as I drove past or did yard work.

THE POWER
"You mean the world to me; you can't leave now...you can't." I say these words looking into your eyes, eyes that switch back and forth between life and death. I follow you down the hallway the doctors are rolling you down, holding onto your slipping hand as best I can as if to keep you alive, when we get to the door that I have come to loathe.

I AM AN EVENT GUY
I am an event guy. That’s what I am, period. I have hosted 256 events to date, since I was a teenager in 1979: big ones with over 13,000 people, down to little ones with exactly two. It’s what I do because I am an event guy, and after 41 years of doing it, it has been imprinted too deeply into my DNA to stop now. I will take any event on, from a biker wedding, to a race between a man and a mule, it makes no difference to me because I am an event guy.

A story that cares about you
If my siblings, friends, and right about anyone who has spent more than an hour with me, had to describe me with one word, they would all laugh and say "weird". I'm the kind of weird obsessed with stories. I love that feeling of seeing someone see what I imagine as I describe it to them, seeing them believe as much as I do, or feel invested in a few minutes to give criticism.
