Welcome to my heartbreak
What other words can describe what I feel, what I felt when you told me it was over. My whole world collapsed with your words, your kisses, and your touch. I deeply felt that my world was ending because of you, Maria. I put everything in this; my future, my life, my heart.

Golden Eggs
I didn’t notice the old woman until she sat down next to me on the park bench. Her smell told me immediately what her situation was, and that was before I saw her threadbare coat, the holes in her shoes, and the haunted look in her eyes—the same look I’d seen in the mirror.

The joy of risking failure
The day I stopped beating myself up ranks among the greatest days of my life. I was that guy that was quick to give others grace that I refused to extend to myself. But the day I stopped beating myself up, I started taking risks. Risk is the pathway to adventure, change, and growth. Is it dangerous at times? Maybe. But there are far more dangers to be experienced from doing nothing. The day I stopped beating myself up, I discovered that my thoughts have merit. I have something to say, something to contribute. My words and actions can influence others to speak up and speak out about issues that are important in the world. The day I stopped beating myself up is the day I discovered that others need validation, and they can find that validation and catharsis in something that I write, say, or do. The day that I stopped beating myself up, I experienced emotions that I had repressed. I allowed myself to feel, to feel joy, sorrow, pain, release and relief. And to feel them deeply.

“You is strong, you is kind, you is important.”
Rituals are super important. And I want you to take a moment to think about your morning rituals. My ritual happens to be the same as J Shetty, former monk, now businessman and advocate for wisdom going viral. He is an influencer. Who is bringing monk principles to the main stream. #MakeWisdomgoViral . Our morning rituals are the same. We wake up, go brush our teeth, we have meditation time, we spend some time outdoors in nature just being grateful for the day, then we check social media for a bit before we head on over to the gym ( Jay is more about light cardio and boxing, where I am about jump rope and yoga). Long story short if you won’t take it for me that rituals are important, at least listen to someone who was a former monk.

Right Now It's Like This
Breathe with me and say, "right now it's like this". Living in a different world: We are living in a different world and let's be honest, it's not easy. It's proven anxiety is more higher than ever. People have lost jobs, family, and income. Families have adjusted to distance learning and lack of social interactions compared to what it used to be. People are more lonely than they used to be. There's more tension than before because there are not as many getaways.

What You Think, You Become
It's interesting that so many of us are so routined and committed in going to the gym regularly, so we can work hard on toning our body and building our muscles. Why is it so interesting, you may well ask? Well, let's get one thing clear firstly, it's definitely not a bad thing to be going the gym, because it's fantastic for our health and well-being to be exercising intensely and regularly, in turn burning fat, and keeping in shape. I would love to know though, how many gym goers genuinely do it for the sole purpose of benefiting their health, or whether they actually go to the gym just for the sake of looking attractive in the mirror and to others. There's no doubt there is some element to the health side of things for everyone, but is that truthfully their sole purpose, or is it really just a vanity thing? Only each individual can answer that question honestly to themselves. At the end of the day though, it's great that these gym junkies are making the effort to exercise, as most other people are just downright lazy and lack willpower, so a massive credit to them. As far as why I find it interesting though? Well, most of these people who are committed and routined in going to the gym to tone and strengthen their muscles, in order to feel healthy and attractive, actually fail to apply the same level of commitment and energy into strengthening one of the most important components of the human body, the mind. I'm certainly not picking on the gym junkies though, as once again, they at least have the willpower, motivation, and commitment, to be getting off their butt and exercising. They are at least strengthening the physical appearance of their body, and keeping healthy, whilst most other people aren't strengthening and conditioning their body whatsoever, including their mind.

The Power of Gratitude
This is my first story on Vocal so if you are reading this, thank you and I hope it finds you well! The Power of Gratitude is the first segment of a series called DeLiberate Life that I will be posting here exclusively on Vocal! DeLiberate Life is a phrase I coined that means to deliberately liberate your life! When you break that down, it means you are consciously and actively making decisions that will lead to a life that you feel liberated by. To free yourself from the prison of your mind and have the power to live out a life that is filled with love, a fiery passion, and joy within everything you do. I do not say this as if it is a fantasy or something that seems too cliché to be real. I say it as a certainty. I know this because I am living that life and have helped others achieve it.
