It was no secret to John that Olivia liked oranges. She had told him this once, furtively, as she had glanced, and double-glanced, at a homeless man, huddled and half-asleep, leaned up against the stall wall of the bus stop where they waited to travel downtown. She was training as a data-entry clerk at a local hospice center and had hopes of one day managing her own clinic, where they would specialize in veterans with addictions care, something he knew was very near and dear to her heart.

Absolute Freedom from Suffering
So, ABSOLUTE Freedom From Suffering huh. That should be the goal. The absolute goal. FREEDOM. If you are doing something right or making mistakes, you have to be free from it. We have an imperfect mind and body, so mistakes are inevitable. It's our nature. We learn by mistakes.

Letting Go!
We have all been there. The choices of the past! The decisions we wish we never made, but made them. You sit there and contemplate, “If I never did this what would my life be like?” For me its one decision I made over, and over again. The same bad decision for 14 years! Yeah I typed that right, 14 years! Kept going back to my ex. You’d think after having to cancel a wedding two weeks before because you found out all summer he was seeing someone else. You’d think after he left to another province, and never called you once for three months. You’d think after he finally calls and asks you to come move in with him, than dumps you in front of all his friends after announcing that you’re pregnant. Then having to drive across provinces in the dead of a winter storm to move back home. You’d think after he came back from said province, and forced you to have an abortion with that child he dumped you over. You’d think after you get pregnant for a second time, (he asked me for a child) and him not catering to any of your pregnant needs. You’d think after having the baby, and him cheating on you with a mutual high school friend for months. (Her husband contacted me on the affair). You’d think after he tells you not to go back to school because I’ll never amount to anything. You’d never go back! but I kept coming back after all these things. What finally stopped me from coming back to him was my family. My family made him leave with out saying a word to me. I came home one day to find all his stuff gone. He left wonderful, muddy foot prints everywhere for me to clean up. My family moved me out to a smaller place so there would be no room in my life for him to come back. Haylee’s wonderful support team got together, and offered me support. Like I said in “Taking Care Of You” post, If I’m not healthy how can I take care of anyone else.

The Blooming Pedals of Spring
Bright iridescent lights flow through the windows. Warm breeze fills the room to welcome a new day. Groggy and lazy you tumble around struggling to get up. You check the time only to be right on time with the morning routines. You shuffle to get up and find a bed of flowers surrounding you. Yellow golden pedals blooming before your very eyes. You wonder if you’re still in a dream or that you’ve already died. You come to terms with whats been happening and you proceed with caution.

Who, what, when, where, why?
In the daily drone of doing things on repeat, it's hard not to get caught up in the who, when's, where's, and why's. We see ourselves with such a skewed point of view. When we look in the mirror we nitpick all the little things that make us who we are. Though we know that who we appear to be on the outside, is not us completely, we still tend to judge our own books by their cover. We see the imperfections and obsess over what we look like; but through our own eyes, we can forget who we are completely.

Maybe she's born with it,
We've all seen them: the images, quizzes, and memes promising to give us some clarity or justification for who we are and why we are that way based on one thing alone: our Zodiac sign. Somehow, even though we've seen a million+1 of these doodles and depictions, we're still sucked into another one when it's presented. We want to see ourselves or see how others perceive us.

Grow in Confidence
When I think of what confidence looks like, my mind first goes to the pretty, skinny, mean girl protagonist of an early 2000 chick flick movie. Usually surrounded by at least two other stunningly attractive friends, these beautiful bullies seem to get away with whatever they want. Arriving at school in their squeaky clean convertibles with no hair on their head out of place as if they're immune to the effects of wind. They strut through the halls with their heads held high, and a permanent smirk planted on their faces as the other 99% of the school population freeze to stare with jaws dropped, and eyes open wide.

Get Past Writer's Block
Write every day. Ok, yes this seems totally obvious. But the thing is people who are successful writers are the ones who do it frequently. Putting it off even for a short amount of time can allow us to lose focus or interest. Carve out some time where you have minimum interruptions. Maybe that’s setting the alarm clock a little earlier, staying up later, or jotting down things while you’re eating lunch. Turn off the TV or other things that can get you sidetracked. I keep my phone on the other side of the room and turn off the internet on my computer, so I don’t start skimming articles or shopping. Don’t worry about doing it in one chunk either. Maybe it's easier if you split the three hours into two sections. Just carve out the time and do it.
