Born Never To Blend
As we leave childhood, we never tend to realize that growing up is a social shock all its own. Becoming an adult is quite different for everyone. Physically, we have to deal with the changes of hitting puberty, and those can happen either early or later. We feel out of place when our bodies start shifting and seeming to betray us, but that’s almost nothing compared to dealing with new emotions and responsibilities. We go from a magical world of playground breaks, naps, and music during school lunches to being thrown into the adolescent fray that we call high school. A new world of fake, egotistical, and hormonal “teen-adults”, all attempting to become what others expect to see from us.

A Year and A Half
No pun intended, but I was totally shocked when I found out that I was supposed to be travelling alone to a foreign country to study. This happened when I was sixteen. I had graduated from school at fifteen and my mother didn’t want me to start university immediately because of my age, so we decided to keep me at home for a year.

Why you should follow your passion
Every day that you go to work with this mindset, you begin to hate your job more and more. While many people feel that they must work hard to retire and have money to enjoy themselves, what’s the point of enjoying yourself in your later years when you spent some of your best years being miserable?

The Seeds that We Plant: The Role We Play in Taking Action
"The impact you have on the world is based upon the seeds that you plant." This quote from Jane Goodall resonates with me. What we do ripples out into the universe. We affect the collective consciousness and everyone around us. To impact our lives in a positive way, we must choose to take action by planting good seeds. When I think about my life, I am reminded of how much impact I have had on those around me because of what I chose to do or not do. It's never too late to start taking action and planting new seeds!

Passionate vs Passion
When I read this challenge’s title, I skipped over it because I did not feel like it applied to me. I do not feel passionate about anything really anymore. It’s almost one of those, ‘if everyone’s special is anyone really special’ topics to me. We have so many passions that come and go so quickly. At times I have felt my passions have been spread too thin as I have enjoyed many things so deeply. People in their fifties are rarely as driven by what they loved in their twenties anymore, but does that make us fickle? Humans tend to be the butterflies of the cause and passion army. Each new day brings a new onslaught of colorful flowers to admire.

We are all connected
We are all connected. Passion is a strange word. Passion is defined a strong and barely controllable emotion, a state of outburst or an intense sexual love. The thing I am most passionate about in life almost defies the definition of passion itself. It allows me to stay in control of my life and my mind, live in a state of constant energy and love rather than an outburst of intense sexual love that slowly fizzles out over time. It is the thing that lights me up. Writing is my passion.

Celebrate You.
Remember when you first learned to ride a bicycle? You were so proud of yourself. The grown-up helped you by holding on to the back of the bike until you felt steady enough to ride on your own, and then they let go. It’s how we learned when we were young. Someone, an adult, thought it was time for you to pick up a new skill and they gathered the necessary equipment for you, and carved out some time to help you practice, then they let go, maybe you even got an ice cream when it was over.

My passion for art is my escape to a better world
My passion for art, has been with me, since I was 7 years old. I loved to draw when I was younger with my brother and sister , in the basement, during the 80s decade. We would play this game called , " Pick to Draw" and practice drawing for fun. It would be a contest to see whose drawing came looking out the best. We would each take scrap pieces of paper, write a person, place, or thing on the paper, fold it, place it in a canvas bag, and vote to whose turned out the best. We would shake it up and each pick a paper out of the bag. I remember I picked a piece that said to draw a "humpback whale". Anything goes, is what the drawings were about and it gave us practice for art class as kids. It was fun at the same time. If we did not feel like playing board games, we felt like playing "Pick to Draw". It was very similar to the game of Pictionary, only it was a contest, instead of a guessing what the picture was on the paper with teams.

"You look like Sid the sloth from Ice Age"
It is safe to say, fitting in is not my thing. I could list off many occasions I have felt like a fish out of water, an imposter or an alien from another planet. In fact, one of my many nicknames in school was alien head...I mean it is funny now, but it certainly wasn’t back then.
