Marisol's Story
In Mexican culture marigolds are planted around altars for Dia de los Muertos, the day of the dead celebrations. The marigolds magic is that its scent and beautiful bright color attract souls back from the land of the dead. It’s for this reason that Marisol had a bouquet of marigolds on her desk at work. She hoped that her deceased beau would return to help her find another partner. So far, it hadn’t worked. It had been four years and Marisol wasn’t even sure if she was ready to fall in love again.

Three Card Spread
The envelope was placed on the seat of his bright yellow Eames inspired Herman Miller desk chair. He saw it when he got back from his very long liquid lunch. An army green colored old-fashioned mailbox with it's red flag pointing up, a red flower peaking out of shrubbery, and a medium sized package wrapped in a brown paper bag. Those were the three photos Miles found inside the unmarked legal sized manila envelope. He looked around as if to see who had delivered it. He saw what looked like a mailroom clerk pushing the usual cart of mail down the hall. The person didn’t look like one of the regulars. He called out. No answer. The person didn’t even look back. What did the photos mean? It certainly wasn’t blackmail material.

Pandemic Contemplations
The pandemic, coronatine, quarantine, whatever we are calling it, gave me a nice brain fog. I inhaled in shock, and it took me a really long time to exhale. I, like everyone else, was caught by surprise. I’m not a stranger to a lockdown. When I need to focus inward or learn something new, I’ve quarantined myself many times. I don’t want the world disrupting my learning curve, so I was not completely opposed to a shutdown. I, however, have never had the experience of the entire planet having to shutdown with me. I can take it. I can go with the flow. Can everybody else? Did everybody else?

You're welcome!?
I have a new friend. I’m not sure if I like her. She shows up when she feels like and she affects the way I behave in the world, the way I feel, and how I act with others. She wears a pink skirt and combat boots. You’d think with the pink skirt that she’d be nice, but those damn combat boots give her so much attitude. I don’t know if she is a friend or foe, but what I know for sure is that she is not going anywhere. She’s made that abundantly clear.
