Having a drink in a bar
This paper aims to evaluate the effect of context on food choices. Two studies are presented to test the potential of an immersive approach to help understanding contextual influences on drink choices. To generate contextual effects, two bar-like environments based on the idea of “having a drink in a bar” were created: one with wood furniture and one with blue furniture. In both immersive bars, clips with visual and music stimuli were projected on a wall to change the overall warmth of the ambience. In the first study, five different clips were projected. Participants in the immersive bars had to choose a drink within a large range of drinks for each projected clip. Results showed that these elements were sufficient to have an influence on declarative drink choices. Beverages were selected according to perceptual, semantic or cognitive associations between the drink and the clips. The second study was designed to evaluate the robustness of the method. Participants had to choose between five beers in one ambience. Again results showed that drink choices were different according to the ambience. These findings suggest that the immersive approach presented in this paper might be a good tool to explore the integrated influence of contextual variables on food and drink choices.

Cecelia
In our lifetimes Cecelia and I have led vastly different lives. I originate from the north, while she is from the south. I have lived in four states, while she has lived in only one. I have traveled the world visiting faraway places such as Canada, France and Mexico. While, she is most comfortable staying very close to home. I obtained my bachelor's degree while she did not pursue higher education. So, at first glance it may seem unique to say that Cecelia is my mentor.

Growth in ourselves
Gratitude Does Wonders Sometimes we have to realize that we are never alone. Someone is always with us in those times when we need them. Even when we lose people they stay with us in times when we miss them. The lives we live matter because we are so blessed to live them. We are needing to be grateful for being where we are right now.

Starting From Within
What steps will I take in 2022 to foster kindness and inclusivity? When we get asked questions like this it is our human nature to spout off the response that is expected of us, the response that will shine the best light upon our faces. Because, after all, we all want to be included. We all want to be accepted and liked by our peers, our neighbors, our family. And not only that, deep down, we all know that it feels good to do for others. It feels good to do nice things for other people. Immediately I began to ponder what nice things I could for other people. Smile at a stranger. Feed the neighborhood cats. Go out of my way to acknowledge someone that others ignore because of their appearance. Give a large tip to the diner waitress whom I know is living paycheck to paycheck. Volunteer my time to mentor young children. Offer healing sessions for free. These are all things I do or have done, so if I vowed to do these things in the months to come, they would not be empty promises.
