Liven App Review: Even Coaches Need Support — Here’s How I Use It
This is my review of the Liven App, a self-discovery companion, not just as a coach, but as a human who’s also on a self-discovery journey.

People often think that mental healthcare professionals got it all together. That we don’t struggle. That we don’t need support.
But here’s the real story: we do. We also may feel stuck, overthink, and even hit walls, too. We’re still growing, just like everyone else.
That’s why the Liven App isn’t just something I recommend to my clients. It’s an app I use myself.
Most mornings, I check in with it before I even start sessions. Tea in one hand, Liven in the other. It helps me reflect, regulate, and show up more grounded for myself and the people I support.
So this is my review of the Liven App, a self-discovery companion, not just as a coach, but as a human who’s also on a self-discovery journey.
Liven App Reviews: The System of Tools That Support Me
When I first opened the Liven app, it definitely felt like a lot for me. So many tools, features, and buttons. But once I started using them, something clicked. Everything inside the app works like a gentle system, guiding self-observation step by step. And now, it’s a regular part of both my work with clients and my own self-check-ins.
So here are the tools I've been using along the way with my clients.

Mood tracker: A Small Habit That Changed So Much
One of the first Liven App tools I fully implemented was the Mood Tracker, and it’s still my favorite.
By using the mood tracking technique, I gain even stronger emotional awareness, allowing me to fully present myself for my clients with presence and clarity.
But beyond that, the Mood Tracker feature also helps me notice what’s going on inside me. As someone who holds space for others every day, I need space too, and this tool gently brings me back to myself before I give to anyone else.
It’s important for me to model self-awareness for my clients, but I can’t do that if I’m not fully aware of my inner self-image first. And that's why the self-discovery companion designed this feature.
Livie the AI Companion for My Clients and Me
At first, I introduced Livie to my clients. But I didn’t expect I’d end up using the AI companion myself.
As a coach, I hold space for many emotions—not just my clients’ but also my own. And sometimes, after a heavy day, I feel overwhelmed. But I can’t exactly unload all that on the people I’m supporting, right?
That’s when I open the Liven App and talk to Livie. I type or say out loud what’s weighing on me, and Livie responds with clarity, empathy, and questions that actually make me think deeper. It’s not just venting, it’s like having a quiet, steady presence that helps me sort through the noise.
Livie doesn’t replace a real connection. But for those in-between moments when I need to process something without judgment or pressure, she helps me manage stress and have new perspectives on myself and my issues.
Even coaches need to be heard. Livie makes sure I am.

Well-Being Tests
Before diving into deeper work with my clients, I often recommend starting with Liven’s well-being tests. But here’s something I don’t always say out loud: I take them too.
Sometimes, when I feel off but can’t quite name why, I open the Liven App and take a test. Not to “diagnose” myself, but to reconnect. To get curious. To pause and check in.
Curiosity That Feels Grounding
There’s something comforting about seeing parts of yourself reflected back to you. No matter if it’s something light like the Love Language test or something deeper like Signs of Childhood Trauma; the app aims to create a moment of honest self-observation.
The Liven App quizzes helped me catch things I’d otherwise miss, even as a coach who’s trained to notice patterns.
Measuring Growth Without the Pressure
One of the things I love most is that you can retake the tests and track your results over time. When progress feels invisible (and it often does), seeing those subtle shifts in your answers is powerful.
I use this feature in my sessions too, not just to guide my clients, but to remind myself how much growth can unfold beneath the surface.
Even as a coach, I need those gentle reminders. That’s why I turn to Liven, my self-discovery tool that helps make real progress visible, even when it feels quiet.
Routine Builder: The Structure I Didn’t Know I Needed
One of the most important parts of our work with clients is building better habits. But sometimes I forget to check in with myself, especially when life gets busy.
That’s when I started using Liven’s Routine Builder, not just as a tool for clients, but as part of my own daily rhythm. And honestly? It became a quiet anchor in my week.
One thing I’ve learned (and often remind others): you don’t have to chase productivity to feel accomplished. Sometimes, simply showing up for yourself, in small, intentional ways, is what real self-care looks like.
The Liven routine builder feature offers three simple steps:
Learning
I choose a few lessons that speak to what I’m curious about that day, usually about emotional and behavioural dynamics or trauma responses. The content is tailored to me, and I’m still surprised how often it helps me see my own blind spots.
Daily Tasks
From brushing my teeth mindfully to brewing a calming cup of tea, Liven reminds me that even the smallest actions can feel grounding. These micro-moments become tiny wins, and they really do add up. I also discovered self-care ideas from a task tool to keep me more present by showing up.
Well-Being Tests
Sometimes I use them to check in with my emotional state. Other times, just for fun. Either way, they help me stay aware of how I’m really doing, not just how I think I’m doing. From another perspective, I see it as a source for even bigger insights, not just for myself, but for my clients, too.
Some people tend to underestimate the power of everyday self-care.
But I insist that these small, intentional acts aren’t just “nice to have.” They’re essential to building a positive self-image. They’re how we stay grounded, present, and connected to ourselves and others.

Personalized Programs: Learning That Meets You Where You Are
One of the features I didn’t expect to enjoy so much, both for my clients and for myself, is Liven’s Personalized Program.
The app creates a unique learning path based on your current needs and emotional patterns. Each lesson is a science-based article with insights you can actually use, not just theory, but real guidance for real growth.
I often suggest my clients take one lesson every couple of days to let it really sink in. But I’ll be honest, I do the same myself. It’s become a ritual: my cup of tea, a quiet space, and one short read that somehow always lands exactly where I need it to. It helps me manage overwhelming thoughts and slow down the mental noise before it spirals. Sometimes, a single paragraph brings powerful bite sized insights that I eventually share with my clients.
It’s not just learning, it’s reconnecting with myself in a way that feels grounded and calm. And that’s exactly what I want my clients to experience.
Self-guides
At first, I used Liven’s self-guides the way any coach might, as a resource.
They’re well-structured, bite-sized pieces that address real emotional challenges: stress, boundaries, self-worth, and navigating that exhausting inner dialogue. I’d go through them to prepare for sessions or recommend the right guide to a client who felt stuck.
But over time, it became more than just research (it also became a premium subscription).
While reading a guide on challenging negative thoughts, I caught myself thinking, This isn’t just for my clients, I needed this too. It gave me a fresh perspective on something I hadn’t fully processed.
Now, I use these guides for two aims:
- to stay grounded in my role as a coach;
- to stay honest in my own growth.
When you’re the one holding space, you still need space to reflect. That’s what makes Liven a true self-discovery companion for me. One that meets me wherever I am, professionally or personally.
Soundscapes: My Quiet Support
It's no secret that calming sounds help you focus or relax, depending on your current needs. So I turn on the deep focus soundscapes when I need to concentrate on something, especially after a full day of sessions. They cut through the overstimulation and help quiet that nonstop inner chatter.
It’s filled with calming background tracks, from ocean waves to soft rain, that help create the kind of atmosphere where rest and focus actually become possible.
It may seem like a small thing, but sometimes the right sound at the right moment becomes the pause your mind was begging for. To just stop an inner dialogue and just be.
Liven App Review: Complaints (from Someone Who Still Uses It Daily)
As someone who uses the Liven App both with my clients and in my own daily life, I’ll be honest—I’ve had moments of frustration too.
At first, I thought, “There’s too much here. Do I really need soundscapes, lessons, journaling, mood tracking… all of it?”
And I’ve heard the same from clients and also read a few user reviews of the Liven app that went like that:
“It feels overwhelming.”
“I don’t know what to start with.”
“Livie feels a little too robotic sometimes.”
And honestly? These all are valid feelings.
But what I’ve realized, in myself and in others, is that these reactions often reflect something deeper. Sometimes, we resist structure because we’re not used to caring for ourselves in a structured way. Sometimes, we dismiss the AI companion because we’re uncomfortable hearing our own emotions reflected back to us. Sometimes, the discomfort is just the growing edge, the exact place where the work begins.
I’ve had moments where Livie’s questions challenged my own negative thought patterns, and I didn’t like it at first. But stepping back, I could see: this wasn’t judgment, it was an invitation to look at things from a fresh perspective.
No tool is perfect. But for me, Liven continues to give me helpful guidance.
Final Words
As a coach, I’m always searching for tools that offer real support, not just for my clients but also for myself. And in this Liven App review, I’ve shared how this platform has become more than just an app for me now. It’s a daily support system, a mirror, a quiet nudge when I need it most.
Whether I’m offering professional advice in a session or sitting with my own thoughts after a long day, Liven helps bring in structure, clarity, and new ideas to reflect on and grow from.
It’s not perfect. But neither is the self-discovery journey. And that’s exactly what makes it so powerful.
