A Letter to 20-Year-Old Luca
So in the interest of full honesty and openness, I stole this idea from my cousin for an interview that he was doing. He wrote his letter for his 25 year old self (about eight years of difference), so I've decided to write a letter to my 20 year old self (six years difference). At the risk of looking self-obsessed, I thought I would freestyle this letter and see where it goes. I hope you can take something from it no matter how big or small:

Important Life Lessons
The painful times are the most rewarding later. I distinctly remember moments in my life where I thought “ I can’t do this” and I couldn’t envision moving past that current state of pain I was in. Now I can look back on those times with gratitude seeing how they shaped me into the woman I am today. Remembering that God will never put something in my path that cannot be conquered helps me to keep pushing. It gives me the mindset that I can handle it. Whatever “it” is.

The Balance Between Positive and Negative Energies
It was said—by Oscar Wild—"no good deed goes unpunished." Positive and negative forces in creation have to roughly balance each other, if the normal laws and rules of physics are to be accurate. God can be said to be the positive energy, Satan the negative; we should always be positive but never stop being vigilant, because the negative is never far away, and is always trying to catch up. If you do a good deed and stop to be proud of yourself, the negative will catch up while you congratulating yourself.

Self-Care Is Not Selfish
Self. Care. Is. Not. Selfish. There's a fine line between self-care to take care of yourself and self-care that is 24/7 and takes away from your relationships. I know that there are people who may be either extreme, but I also know that there are many people who do not hear this enough: You are important!

Growing up, I have learned that you can learn anything at any time and in any place. It has been especially amazing to learn that our environment can hold some glorious secrets. If we listen long enough, we will be able to uncover many of those secrets.

Deep into "The Rolling Soul"
Samantha Mia I was born April 12th, Samantha. I was born and raised in Bronx, New York from Puerto Rican descent. As a child I felt free, happy, had plenty of friends and was always in the top class; yes, little Ms. Smarty Pants. Growing up in a Hispanic household with an older sister and younger brother is probably what you’re all thinking, a fun and chaotic rollercoaster.

How I Got Creating Again
There have been moments I've questioned if I'll ever want to create again. At times it gets bad enough I question my own ability at creativity. Months on end of not wanting to draw, write, record... do anything that requires developing an idea. When I do begin to try, I question every stroke and every sentence. Nothing quite hits the mark.
