I'm playing a long game of Influence. How do I know if my influence is making a difference?

The worst kind of waste is the discarded actions we do not recognize as worthy. We have the capacity to learn from most experiences we participate in. This is a question I have been asked over the years many times by those seeking to plan out their influence strategies. As we begin working with people there's a need to meet the person where they are and feel what is being shared is meaningful. We all seek to help in different capacities and there's no shortage of opportunities to challenge us when we are actively participating in life. As long as you are encouraging the subject's best self and your own, creating good memories with people around you, and assisting people by sharing your knowledge, nothing that you do can be wasteful. Inspire the best in each other as you learn, teach, and have adventures. Service is a performance art and we offer it to each other daily. You can remain silent and have someone be grateful you made sure they were not alone.
When you have shared goals with others all of you should know where you stand. There may not be finishing touches to share but there will be updates of involvement as you move together on a journey. Hone your skills through practice and diversify your subjects. Not every person is the same, nor every influence attempt. If you are going to play a long game, like the person asking this, let your preparations and work play out. Don't rush them or ask for proof they are working. Listen, observe, and adjust with the behavioral expressions of the person you work with. Don't mind read what might be. Whenever possible demonstrate that you think and believe the best from others. They may not deliver the best but if you are observing carefully you'll be able to prepare just as well. Your reputation will help buffer you should the other person not be kind, respectful, or honest. These skills take time to develop and its more than just memorizing techniques. Limitations of consciousness: Exploring Attentional Blink
As you shift your attention from one thing of interest to another, a gap in attention called attentional blink occurs in your awareness of the world. It lasts for about half a second, so we barely notice it. The shocking, interesting, or emotionally stimulating event is the more likely we will lose peripheral awareness of anything else outside that event for longer. This phenomenon occurs because our brain has limited attentional resources. If you have ever tried to focus on multiple things at once, and you know you have if you are an active citizen of our modern society. You likely discovered you could not completely hold full attention to all the multi-tasked tasks. You might even have noticed that some things could not be consciously tracked well as you were multitasking and simply slipped right past you unnoticed. This cognitive factor is not often trained by most and yet plays a part in every action we do in society. Everything from following a magic trick, being convinced, hypnotized, and is actionable as we go through the tasks of our day. Just think about driving on a rainy day and talking on the phone or walking across the street as you text on your phone. Sometimes the attentional blink can cost us our life.

Quiet Firing
I kept reading all these stories about “quiet firing” and then it happened to me. I lived it every single day I came to work; yeah, I later realized that I was a DEI hire. I kept wondering why they hired me in the first place and then it dawned on me, dummy you were a political hire! The social isolation was deafening. It was so loud I couldn’t hear it or maybe didn’t want to believe it was true. I would awaken everyday depressed and with dread going to work among people I knew hated or intensely disliked me but wore a fake smile like a warm blanket on their faces almost every day. Sometimes they let the fake grin slip, and I caught sight of their true feelings. Wow, they thought they were great actors…not. I saw right through it all and that is why I never trusted them or let myself get too close. I did not want to get burned or feel like a fool. I still worked my butt off, often coming home exhausted.
