From Insecurities To Dreams: How Journalling Can Help you Evolve
The Simple Act of Journalling Might Not Be So Simple... It's Actually Deeper Than You Think!

Journaling and affirmations—the two most underrated tools in any self-love journey. But trust me, they’re game-changers. If you haven’t already, check out my last post, where I shared how affirmations literally changed my life!
These aren’t just random self-help tips—this is my raw experience, filled with joy, challenges, and growth. Journaling isn’t just about writing—it’s about self-reflection, clarity, and healing. It has played a huge role in reshaping my self-perception, and I’m excited to share how it can do the same for you.
I like to think of my life as a book—a rich, fascinating story filled with suspense, romance, setbacks, victories, and unexpected plot twists. And just like a book, journaling captures every moment—not just the big events, but the small, seemingly insignificant ones too.
The little wins matter. The quiet moments matter. Write it all down.
I used to think I should only journal when something major happened. But the truth is, the micro-moments hit the hardest when you look back. I once journaled about a painful cramp I had in early 2023. My sister gave me a deep massage, and I finally drifted off to sleep after hours of discomfort. The next morning, I wrote it all down—the relief, the gratitude, the love I felt.
A year later, I stumbled upon that entry, and just like that, the memory came alive again. That’s the power of journaling.
Then, there was another time when I felt lost in my journey—unsure of where I was heading. I wrote a simple journal entry about how I wanted clarity, direction, and peace. Months later, I reread that entry and realized I had unknowingly taken steps toward exactly what I had written. Journaling isn’t just about remembering the past—it’s about guiding your future self.

Things to Avoid When Journaling
Many people struggle with journaling because of a few common mistakes.
❌ Trying to write perfectly. Your journal is a judgment-free space, not an essay. Spelling, grammar, structure—it all doesn’t matter. Just let the words flow.
❌ Waiting for big moments. Documenting small, everyday moments makes journaling more meaningful. Even the way the morning sun hit your window, a kind text from a friend, or a deep conversation with yourself—these details add life to your journal.
❌ Only focusing on the negative. While journaling is great for processing emotions, balancing it with gratitude and positive reflections creates a more uplifting habit. When I used to only write about things that upset me, my journal started to feel heavy. But when I intentionally added small joys, my perspective shifted.
Once I realized these, journaling became more intentional, fulfilling, and transformational.

How to Start Journaling with Purpose
If you’re staring at a blank page, unsure where to start, here’s a simple structure that helped me:
STEP 1: "Chapter 1 – Your Current Self"
Write down everything—your fears, insecurities, regrets, everything you've done that you aren't proud of, and the moments you’ve felt “not enough.” Be brutally honest. This is where you acknowledge where you are right now.
STEP 2: "Chapter 2 – Your Future Self"
Now, be as bold, ambitious, and even a little delusional as possible! Describe the life you want. It doesn’t matter how crazy it sounds—write it all down!
The person you want to become.
The people you want around you.
The kind of place and setting you imagine yourself working in.
Even the things your highest self will own, do, and wear—write it in vivid detail.
This is your vision board in words.
Then, list the small steps you can take to align with this vision. Maybe it’s saving money, working out a bit more, setting boundaries, or learning to say "no" when needed.

And Here’s the Key:
Your journaling should make you feel:
✨ Anxious—because you're stepping out of your comfort zone.
✨ Excited—because you’re open to new experiences.
✨ Inspired—because you’re becoming the best version of yourself.
Starting like this made my entire journey feel more purposeful and real in every aspect of my life. I started being consistent with the habits I wanted to imbibe—the ones I knew my future self would definitely be doing. It was me writing my own story on my own terms.
Over time, I realized I wasn’t just writing about my dream life—I was becoming the person who lived it.
These actionable steps give a clear roadmap for steady transition. Make it as aesthetic as you want. Make it detailed. Make it you.
