Hi there! My name is Luna, and I would like to share with you what I have been up to during this break from my normal life during the virus outbreak. I have been following WHO's (the world health organization) suggestions of staying home during as much as possible in order to contain the covid-19 virus. I completely understand how being stuck inside can really affect our mental health and productivity levels, making you feel like all there is to do is sleep, watch Netflix, and be stuck in your room all day. But what we have to realize is this can really be an opportunity you have been waiting for. Take this much needed time off to work on yourself; make over your room, try that recipe that always took too long, plan outfits, start a diary or plan out your future. As someone who was working a full time job, going to school full time, and working another full time job I have felt so much better with this break and decided to use it to work on myself. Now that I have finished off my semester of just doing schoolwork everyday, I will begin making daily blogs sharing what I did to work on myself or something I learned, and how you can do the same!
Today I woke up pretty early, 8am to be exact (no idea why, my sleep schedule is very off). I laid in bed for a while watching tiktoks, then finally decided to get up because I was hungry. During my tiktok scrolling session I found a DIY Iced coffee recipe so I decided to try it out. My mom had already brewed a pot of extra strong coffee, I poured 2 cups full and let it sit in the freezer for 20 minutes. Recipe for syrup (per person): sprinkle of cinnamon, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon honey, dash of vanilla, and 1/4 cup of almond milk. I just poured that mix into the cup of cold coffee, added a few ice cubes, and voilla! I made mine without milk, because I wanted something lighter. My sister said it was better than Tim Horton's so I think that is a win. After that I made some oatmeal for breakfast, I just have quick oats made with water and mix in blueberries, maple syrup, and a tablespoon of peanut butter.
I love running like a lot aha. With my regular schedule I didn't put in the time to stay in shape, but lately I have been going on really long runs every day. I use the Under Armour 'Map My Run' app to track the distance and routes I take for each run. Today I just went to the track by my house and then did my workout:
Warm-up: 100 jumping jacks, 1 lap, and leg swings.
Cardio: 10 laps of track, 10 hill runs, 10 sets of stairs, and 100 step ups (50 done quickly on first step, 25 on second step, and 25 on third step).
Core: 100 crunches, 50 cross body sit ups (when sitting up, rotate twisting body to each side), 50 bicycle crunches, 26 toe touches, 60 second plank, and 50 russian twists.
Cool down: 2 laps and static stretches (straddle, child's pose, and sit and reach).
After my workout I walked home and then took a shower. My mom had dinner ready so I ate and then set up my laptop and brought snacks to my room for a Facetime date with my friend. We decided to watch Shutter Island, I played it on my laptop while calling my friend on my phone. It surprisingly went pretty well, we are planning to do another one soon. And that is it! I fell asleep after the movie. Thanks for your time, I hope you get out and do something productive today!
