4 Ways to Become a Leader in Your Daily Life
Guiding the World to a Better Place
Possibly the quickest way to make change in the world is to lead by example. The phrase "monkey see, monkey do" should really be "person see, person do" because humans instinctively copy other humans. When someone turns their head, we all turn our head to see what they are looking at. When you hold the door open for someone, they are most likely going to do the same for the person behind them. When a new trend comes out, everyone wants to be a part of it. This is part of our nature and it is time we start using it to our advantage (we being those of us with a vision to make positive change in the world).
With that being said...
Here are four ways to lead and inspire others in your daily life:
1. Act how you want others to act.
Picture a perfect society. What does it look like? How do the people in the society act? Keep that picture in your mind and act as though you are living in that society daily. For example, you could thank the bus driver before exiting the bus, hold the door open extra-long for someone behind you, pick up trash you see on the ground, smile at those you pass on the street, converse with your neighbors, allow others to be themselves without judgement, etc. Stop yourself when acting in a way that does not align with the best version of yourself.
2. Stand by your morals and beliefs.
Do what you feel in your heart is right and stick to it, even if it does not coincide with the waves of society at large. Often times, deep thinkers and those aware of the world around them will become black sheep. They do not fall under the bandwagon of whatever is popular at the moment. For instance, you may have unpopular beliefs about what is right, what is cool, what is interesting, etc. and your job is to be brave and stick to them. Trust what you feel in your heart is true.
3. Be uniquely you.
You are different for a reason. The same exact set of people living on Earth right now will never exist at the same time again. You are a piece of the intricate puzzle we call the present moment and you are here to be you. Follow the path you know is right for you, even if it seems unimaginable to others. Take risks that coincide with your deepest desires without fear of judgement or failure. Showing that you are not afraid to be yourself opens the door for others to do the same. Being the creator of your own life lets others know that they can too.
4. Share your perspective with the world.
Whether it be through casual conversation, creative work, or an online presence, your new perspective is waiting to be heard. Let go of restricting your creativity and be confident in your vision!
Now, you may think implementing these actions into your daily life will not facilitate great change in society. On the contrary, changing just one person's perception of the world and the actions they take in it will have a ripple effect. One person sees what you are doing and changes their actions, causing those who witness that person to do the same, and so on. Whether you realize it or not, you are constantly influencing those around you. Ultimately, it is your choice whether you want to lead them to a better state of being or not.
I hope I've inspired you to become a leader today and if you were drawn to this article, it means you are meant to be one my friend.
