I Have Covid: Day One
Well, it has finally got me. I thought I had lasted longer than my luck should have held out. But in all honestly, I hardly ever left the house until recently unless absolutely necessary. Then tonight, when I went to pick my husband up from the train station, I began to feel rotten. Sore, achy bones and muscles. Shivers and inability to get warm; Not to mention the dry, achy eyes and lips. I came home and told hubby I would lay down that it had been a long day.

I Had A Heart Attack - Part 2
I spent all of today as a patient at one of the cardiac hospitals in Vancouver. As anyone who has spent time in the diagnostic part of a hospital knows, it is "hurry up and wait." Note: If you want to read Part 1 first, click here.

5 Reasons Getting A Breakthrough Case SUCKS
Like a lot of people in education, I’m used to being around germs. It’s literally my job to gather several dozen grubby teenagers in a small room, shut the door, and encourage everyone to get close to each other and open their mouths.

The Affect of Ageism on Society
The main topic of this paper is ageism and the affect it has on individuals in society. According to the World Health Organization, ageism “ refers to the stereotypes (how we think), prejudice (how we feel) and discrimination (how we act) towards others or oneself based on age” (World Health Organization. (n.d.). Ageing: Ageism) The problems that come with ageism are noticeable early in life: "By the age of four years old, people “become aware of their culture’s age stereotypes.” (World Health Organization. (n.d.). Ageing: Ageism) This data, points to just how important it is to study ageism. If even a kindergarten-age child recognizes the evidence of the oppression that can be caused to people in different age groups, that signifies just how pertinent the issue is to all societal groups.

Is It Ever Too Early for Young Students to Learn Medical Terms?
Kids are smarter than a lot of people give them credit for. They pick up on subtle cues and are constantly learning from the world around them. And yet, we often don’t teach them crucial information until they’re older—or not at all.

Imbibing the Culture of Giving To The Young Generation: What is the importance of Charity?
September 5th has always been my favorite day of this month. Given that the “ber” months would indicate that once it commences, Christmas season also begins. In the Philippines, when the first day of SeptemBER comes, most families begin to think of preparations for Jesus Christ’s natal day. It's surprisingly a long celebration of Christmas from September to December.

Seatbelts and COVID
In 1970 Victoria became the first state in the western world to introduce laws making the use of seatbelt in cars compulsory. within year and a half the other Australian states followed suit and by 1977, 90% of motorist were wearing seatbelts. Why? Because they recognized that although wearing a seatbelt could be something of an inconvenience, it also prevents death and more serious injury in the event of a car accident.

Why You Should Live Your Life Like There Is No Tomorrow.
I was talking to a female elderly friend today. She was telling me about memories from her younger years. She used to run, swim, ride a bike, go on adventures, and, play on park furniture with her children. She is now 72 years old, and she has angina, arthritis and walking problems with her legs. The conversation reminded me of something my gran told me when I was a young teenager:

My Wake-up Call
Introduction It can’t be argued that it is a stressful time. The stress is all around me, us, our community, our planet. We are enveloped in a world-wide health crisis that will henceforth forever be known as the COVID-19 Pandemic and the stress it induced brought to the forefront of my consciousness a personal health concern that I had been ignoring for years. It also brought forward a resolve to work on reinventing myself to be the best version of me that I could.
