Rage Meditation
A New Way to Meditate and Reach Inner Peace
Meditation can be a great way to improve health, both physically and mentally. It can provide a calming release from stress, anxiety, and help increase focus and mental clarity in moments of confusion. It can also be one of the most difficult tasks for a person to partake in, especially for those who struggle with silencing their mind to go to a place of serenity. There are different types of meditation one can participate in, and many ways to customize a meditative program to fit individual needs. For some, Rage Meditation may be a new way to reach inner peace and clarity, instead of more traditional meditation methods.
What is Rage Meditation? The words “rage” and “meditation” do not exactly seem like two words that should fit together, but for those who struggle with traditional meditation methods, this is a great alternative that may help. Rage Meditation allows the participant the opportunity to release their emotions vocally, rather than in silence, while still maintaining a focus in the release that occurs. The purpose of Rage Meditation is to release the negative emotions being internalized in a vocal manner, this allows an individual who struggles to silence the mind to still benefit from meditation in a form that works for them.
How does Rage Meditation work?
1. Get comfortable. Find a quiet place to yourself where you can close your eyes. Make sure that you let others in the space know you are about to partake in a Rage Meditation session so that they don’t come running when they hear you yelling out.
2. Close your eyes. Roll your shoulders. Roll your neck. Breath in and exhale. Allow yourself to reach a comfortable breathing pace as you focus on the movement of your chest.
3. Feel the energy flowing through your body. What emotions are you experiencing? Allow yourself to become aware of them by shouting each emotion out as you become aware of it. For example, if you are feeling stressed out, scream “STRESS!!” The main point is to vocalize the emotions as you feel them.
4. Release each emotion that you’ve acknowledged exists inside of you. This can be done by visualizing yourself physically kicking the emotion out of your body while you scream a mantra of your choice. The mantra can be “SCREW STRESS!” or “GO AWAY STRESS!” or if you are in a more brutal and raw vibe, “FUCK STRESS!” The intention is to use a mantra that demands the release and telling off of the emotion that you are freeing yourself from. You’ll shout out and release each one.
5. You can cuss as much as you like, you can verbalize more details as you keep a focus on removing the negative from yourself. This is all about the rage and release. Silent meditation can help some people, but others struggle with silencing the internal screams and that is where Rage Meditation comes in handy.
6. Continue to move through the negative emotions as you scream out your mantras and release yourself as loudly as you want to. Continue to visualize each negative mindset and emotion leaving your body as you ask the Universe to free you from it.
7. Look to the positives and welcome them in just as loudly. Scream out what you want, your intentions, your hopes, your dreams. Visualize the positives rushing into you like bright, warm globes of light, filling your body with positive energy. They are all within your grasp. Scream your owning mantra “LOVE IS MINE!”, “CALM IS MINE!”, etc. Whatever positive mantras you want to use, shout them out and own them. They are yours to claim.
8. Once you’ve finished claiming the positives into yourself, return to focusing on your breathing as you keep your eyes closed for a few more moments. Become aware of your body, the way everything feels after you’ve released the negatives and claimed the positives as your own. Breath in. Exhale.
9. Give thanks to the Universe for the Rage Meditation session, the negatives removed from you, the positives you’ve embraced, and then open your eyes. Allow yourself as much time as you need before standing and moving around, be aware of your body.
10. Crying during the releasing and claiming is fine in Rage Meditation. Screaming and cussing is fine in Rage Meditation. The main intention of Rage Meditation is to allow a release for those who struggle to silence a messy headspace for traditional meditation methods to be of use.
Rage Meditation is not for everyone, it is just another form of meditation that can be of help especially when embarking on a new year and looking for ways to bring possible positive changes to ones health and well being.
