Life is just better in the high-vibes

I am not an expert on raising one's vibration. How we raise our vibration looks different for everyone. We are unique, and we don't all like the same things. This is what works for me.

Raising my vibe didn't happen overnight. It has been a years long process. It took time to become aware of the fact that I was in a low-vibe state. Since I've been doing the inner work, I've realized a lot of people think their high-vibe when they're not.

I was in a stagnant place for a long time, and I decided I needed to make changes. One can only remain stagnant for so long. Several years ago I was diagnosed with a severe gut disease. I was having trouble building meaningful relationships with love connections. I was working a job I was very bored at, but couldn’t seem to find other work no matter how many positions I applied for. I was fatigued and lethargic, and I couldn’t get myself to do the one thing I’m passionate about - write.

Years later I realized someone was causing blockages in my life. You can read about that by clicking on the story below.

I wasn't able to make changes in my life physically so I gravitated towards manifestation. I listened to a lot of spiritual leaders online. I read articles, and a book or two. With my health in decline I began a healing journey which inevitably turned into a spiritual journey. Healing a disease seemed like a daunting task so I turned to God for guidance.

As part of healing I incorporated a nightly meditation practice. The first step to raising your vibration is to get in touch with yourself.

Meditation also helped me become self-aware. I was able to see how I block my own self. I realized many times it was of my own doing when I'd fall into a low-vibe state. I could have easily avoided it if I had better control of myself. We can't control everything that happens in life, and meditation can also help cope with outside stresses.

Raising my vibe is really about doing what makes me happy and raises my energy and mood. This meant avoiding low-vibe activities, and it took awhile to realize what low-vibe activities even are. A lot of low-vibe activities feel good in the moment.

I get up early and start my day with a workout. I feel refreshed and my energy is high throughout the day. Sleeping in sometimes is nice, but this energy stays with me throughout the day. When I sleep in and don't get a workout, I don't get much done because I've set myself up for that kind of energy. Even when I’m tired, it's worth it to wake up early and go to the gym. I save the lazy days for when I get my period. This makes me look forward to my period, and that’s a new feeling.

Writing is my passion, and if I don't do it I feel like I’m not doing what I'm supposed to be doing. I write everyday, and some days all I have written is a paragraph. I have learned a good way to curb this block is to write in a free flow manner. I keep my fingers moving on the keypad and throw word vomit onto the screen. I then edit and polish. This is how I start most of my posts. At the end of the day, if I have written anything I go to bed with a sense of accomplishment and all is right with the world.

I also write fiction to let the creativity flow. I believe creativity plays an integral role in raising one's vibe. There’s something about getting into the zone and letting the imagination run wild.

I put high-vibe foods into my body, which are foods that fuel good health and raise the mood and energy. It was a process to find which foods worked for me, and it’s constantly evolving. There’s a lot of information out there on how to eat, what to eat, what order to eat in, etc. The best one can do is take the information into consideration and find what works best.

I’ve decided not to get too concerned about all the specifics, like whether or not I’m getting enough of one nutrient or another. I eat what I'm craving and pay attention to my body. I have asked God for guidance in this process, and I’ve learned a lot along the way. I’m good as long as I feel good after I eat, and my body is not bothered.

Low-vibe foods are obviously foods that bring your energy down and aren’t serving your body. These foods cause inflammation, and feed the bad bacteria in the gut.

I stay away from low-vibe activities. I don’t really drink anymore. I don’t mind the occasional celebratory drink, but it's been a long time since I had one. I've reached a place where I just don't like drinking anymore, and I never thought I’d get here. I was a party girl. I’d go to bars and try to outdrink everybody. I’d indulge in at least one glass of wine after work. It took time to let alcohol go, but I feel so good now that I could never go back to my old ways. I didn't realize how much alcohol was affecting my mood and energy until I spent enough time away from it.

Until recently I was still going to bars and pubs to socialize even though I wasn't drinking. Being around drunk people can bring your vibe down. My energy was being sucked out of me while I was trying to match everyone else's energy, and their energy was being fuelled by alcohol. I would leave early and exhausted. There’s also an exchange of energy that happens when you engage with a person. If you're around people engaging in low-vibe activities their energy will leech onto you.

In the process of raising your vibration you will have to learn to protect your energy.

I definitely had my time with drugs in my 20s and early 30s. I no longer partake, with the exception of micro-dosing marijuana once in awhile for spiritual purposes. I believe that's what marijuana is intended for. I don’t have a problem with plant ‘drugs,’ so long as there's always an intention behind them. I am quite curious about them and all of the advancements in research that's going into them. Plant drugs like any other drugs will abuse you if you abuse them. If you’re unable to apply self-control, they become a low-vibe activity.

People who create conflict and take away your peace need to be let go of. You will be unable to make positive changes in your life engaging with people who constantly bring your vibe down. We can’t always completely cut someone out, like a toxic boss, but we can keep engagement to a minimum and not let them affect our peace.

I keep the space around me clean, and organized. Having clutter around me was like a demon nagging at me to attend to it, and I'd avoid it by telling myself I’d get to it later. Ensuring your environment is a space you like to be in does wonders for mood.

Reading is a hobby I picked up during childhood and it stuck with me. I love the feeling of opening up a new story and letting it take me on an adventure. Being inside libraries and book stores, used and new, brings me great pleasure. I spend time perusing spines and reading synopses.

A lot of the things we love to do, we picked up as children. Remember the things you loved as a child and go back to them. You might surprise yourself. I’ve also been indulging in games that I loved to play as a child.

I get outside and go for walks as much as I can to let daylight into my eyeballs. Also, through my experience, walking really is the best form of exercise one can get.

There’s a few things I'd like to incorporate into my life that I haven’t been able to yet. I want to spend more time in nature. I want to laugh more. Some times life feels too serious.

My methods for raising my vibe are doing the things that make me happy. Raising one's vibe also requires doing inner work to address how it is we block ourselves and healing those parts. You can read about how to that by clicking on the story below.
