Consciousness

Do you have it?

By VictorPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

This is a word that I hear very often when talking about spirituality in any way shape or form. Conscious. Now what does the word conscious really mean? Aware of and responding to one’s surroundings, awake. This this the current dictionary definition of conscious. In Latin, the word is spelled conscius and the pronunciation of the word is almost identical besides pronouncing the letter o in the word. So, when you say conscius, you merely emphasize the letter u. Breaking down the Latin word conscius, con- means together, with and scientia- meaning knowledge, a knowing, expertness. When looking at the Latin roots of this word, it’s almost a completely different meaning than what we have today. In Latin, the word is telling us that we need to be aware together as a whole and not fall into the illusion of separation. So much can be learned just from learning about the root word and just contemplating upon the word.

Since we have both definitions of the word in English and Latin we can tie in the element of spirituality. When, in spirituality, we talk about being conscious of expanding our view of consciousness, we talk about expanding our own personally awareness to the world, threw ourselves. Realizing that we really have no control over our life’s but to go threw this life with as much love as possible. Because when we have our hearts wide open to the world, we tend to give what the world truly needs. In our day in age, we need people that are not scared to get hurt, we need people to be vulnerable in order to grow. But, yet so many of us resist that change. The question is why? Ram Dass says because we are scared to let go of who we think we are. And the gentlemen are right, we are scared to see who we truly are as beings upon this earth because we all are having been, still are for most, living a lie. We are taught who we are as we grow up instead of finding out who we truly are. I believe if when can teach our young this concept starting next year, we all would start to see the level of the human consciousness rise.

Ram Dass also talks about trying to be a nobody. Again, I agree with this gentleman because it keeps the person in a state of giving. But purely from the heart, you tend to stay more present, specially what is right in front of you. Learning this concept makes the individual learn to stay humble to their fellow man. Which means that more people will be more grateful for what is in front of them verses what is next. Consciousness is about living in the moment, some say mindfulness, but whatever you believe. We need to learn to be present, we need to be more conscious as a humankind. At the same time, learning to be a nobody, you learn that we are not really anything, but just apart of something much greater than this physical realm. One starts to realize that there is not one person on this planet that is greater than the other. That we are all the same, even down to the rock, nats, and ants. Everything.

With this I conclude that we are everything. That we are all connected whether we are conscious of it or not. But that is were teaching comes into play. Or guidance. We must learn have the patience to learn new ideas and theologies only because then, does our consciousness expand. We open our selves to new knowledge and thought that might make since to the individual. Then that said individual will have the urge to put into practice what they have learned in order to grow. And when that happens, we tend to get an urge to help teach others when in reality, we just need to lead by example and others will follow. Ones actions, upon the highest path, is a teaching to someone else.
