Short Term and Long Term Benefits of Yoga. Top Story - August 2018.
I've never been the biggest in fitness activities. From a very young age, I knew sports would never come naturally to me and hand-eye coordination was impossible. I did practice ballet for several years and, while I loved it, I still lacked a certain grace that others in my class had. Now I consider myself a sports admirer; I'll try anything once but I'll fail miserably and have that be the last. One 'sport' that I have fallen for (in a good way) is yoga.

Vacation and Weight Management
I recently went on vacation with my family and I managed to not gain a single pound. Sure, if I went to the Olympic training center, this would not be much of a feat; however, we went to Michigan. Additionally, we ate out one to two times a day for 7 days. And still, I did not gain a pound. We ate ice cream, we ate pizza, we ate burgers, we drank drinks. I did not have a lot of water nor did I sleep very well. From eating habits alone, it seems like I should have gained 10 pounds!

Best Fitness Trackers You Can Buy in 2018
I've found someone who understands the reasons a sensitive dad is the father every son needs, gets the questions no dad should ask his stay-at-home-partner, and knows the things women are expected to do at work but shouldn't. His name is Devon Thomas.

You Can Accomplish Whatever You Put Your Mind To!
I know first hand just how difficult it is to lose weight and feel great! I have faced depression more times than I care to admit, and needless to say, the struggle is beyond real when it comes to the weight gain weight loss life yo-yo! The best advice I heard one day was: “Strive for progress not perfection! Don't give up!! Slow progress is good progress!” Those words hit me and it slapped me so hard in the face that it woke me right up!! It was the wake up call I was needing all my life! It made me feel like I wasn’t alone on this journey, that someone out there understood my pain and that it’s OK to have trouble and go slowly! The whole fitness journey the world is raving about is very intimidating, especially if you have tried so many times and failed each time. After having a baby, I gained a lot of extra weight. I don’t know what I was thinking but one thing is for sure, I thought it would all just magically disappear after the baby was born. To my surprise, I looked great after the baby’s birth but it was the next few weeks that really did it to me. As I recovered from my c-section, working out was not allowed and the food train I was on during pregnancy was still very much in motion! I wasn’t controlling my food intake and a combination of that, taking care of the baby and resting as much as possible, took me on a road that I never want to travel again! I gained 80 pounds and I was simply not myself! Depression took over and I became a hermit. I didn’t come out of my shell until I had no other choice. My body hurt so bad all over and the baby was growing so fast and began to crawl. I was mortified with myself the moment I said, “Aww man, she’s crawling! Now I have to get up and go after her!” I quickly realized what a horrible thing it was to say that, and it was then that my world changed! THAT was my turning point! I started to work out and slowly but surely, I got real serious! It took me about a year, but I did it!! Not only did I lose weight, but I lost more than I thought I even could!

Thinking of Running a Half Marathon?
Thinking of running a half marathon? Great! There is no better feeling than seeing the finish line and then crossing it. Trust me, I've run over thirty half marathons, and crossing that finish line is the best feeling. But getting there takes a lot of work and dedication. The first step is easy. It's the steps that follow that are the most difficult.

High Reps or High Weight?
As you can tell by the photo, I love lifting heavy! It is simply what I enjoy. How is it the most beneficial way to workout? Is it superior or inferior? Am I wasting my time? Damaging my body? Well, the answer may be more anti-climatic then you'd hope for.

Summer Glow Up
When we think of summer, we think about sunny weather, swimming, and for some of us a vacation. We think about tanning on the beach, while drinking a pina colada. For some of us though, summer is just a reminder that you don't fit into bikinis like all the other girls. For some of us, it's a time of sweating to death from the long pants and shirts.
