Hero or sellout?
We are living in difficult times where good paying jobs are hard to find without a college education or vocational training makes it even harder to find a job that will pay the bills and take care of our families. It makes it twice as hard being an African American male without a college degree. The options you have to stay financially stable become smaller. Though it’s not impossible, in today’s society it makes the task more challenging.

Ethics and why they are important
First role In the last year of my apprenticeship the company I worked for failed to inform us that all 10 of us only needed to do the final year of the City & Guilds Technicians course to qualify for the 2nd year in the BSc Electronics degree course. This would have earned us Chartered Engineer status with the IEE the largest professional institute after IEEE in the USA.

Work Cycle
The sun was shining bright, the parking lot already beginning to fill. I work in a call center, helping customers with orders. When the door slams closed behind you every morning, you feel as though you've just entered a prison. They had you for at least eight hours.

Disability Shame
I'm not the first, nor will I be the last, to be terminated from a job for my disability...a disability disclosed prior to still being offered the position. To be excited to be working with a woman-owned minority company on a Federal Government contract was exciting when I started. Especially, with the company being an African-American woman-owned company (as it's very rare to come across one of those), it was truly a new venture for me. Things were going well, my performance reviews were always between the 96-100 percentage, and on a daily basis I was averaging 45-70 emails on any given day (as the company's contract with DHHS was strictly for email support - the main reason why I applied for the position, and accepted the position after informing during my interview of my anxiety disability and being unable to provide any form of phone support). It was great to finally be accepted at a company and not have to be embarrassed of not feeling like a real employee because of my anxiety disability!

Equal Work
Why Equal Work for Equal Pay has not passed yet is something that is not getting as much attention as other movements that are more important right now. Women are often not paid equally at companies, save the ones I plan on building. I don't look my age so I deal with reverse ageism. Are you really almost forty? Yes, really. But anyway, how to fix the income inequality issue? Many employers simply do not get how to establish equal work for equal pay, only because they are stuck in the past, when many didn't know about how companies worked like this.

Two flows to every river.
My job makes me deeply unhappy. Everyday a monotonous, deeply unenjoyable, hard slog of eight hours reading case files and submission documents for police forces and private clients regarding crimes of the highest order. The most depraved and effecting betrayals of the human spirit and soul.

Tattooed and employed
I love referrals and I am still in business because of word of mouth. Couple of weeks ago, I met a new client thanks to one of them and I was excited to actually see this agent (who I've already followed for months) in person. She is all I was expecting and then some until I heard why she changed some of her appearance so that way she might attract more clients... (what?)

I Was Fired From (What I Thought) Was my life long carrier.
I was fired from (what I thought) was my life long career. And it was the best thing that ever happened to me. That sounds crazy I know, my life was turned completely upside down. I was a retail store manager for a big brand cellular company. I won’t name which one (not trying to get sued) I was fired over things that were approved.. but, suddenly unapproved. I know that being a sales manager in a retail store isn’t ambitious but I’m 24, I’ve come a long way and have been with this company for 7 years. I lost everything, my pets, my house, and even my furniture the only things I have left to my name are my car, my clothes, a few personal items, my outdoor cat, and an air mattress. Sad I know, I packed everything up into my 2016 Ford Fusion and headed to the high way after little deliberation with my wife, to move to North Carolina (this is the furthest north I’ve ever been) to live with my newly found sister in law (I found her like I was a detective). She welcomed my wife and I with open arms. Our trip was spilt into two days as nine hours was a lot for myself, my wife, and our overly stressed out, outdoor cat (the picture in this article is of him and my wife) . We stayed at a hotel in the middle of Georgia it was a nice stay for the price we paid and our cat was allowed to stay as well. It was nice, I was able to bring my computer, we had a few beers and then it was lights out. Our cat slept with us too, which was unusual as he was an outside cat. I got up in the middle of the night to grab a drink from the vending machine by this time he hasn’t tried to leave the room so I thought nothing of it, I opened the door to leave and he was out the door, before I could turn around he had vanished.. not in the distance, I didn’t see him run into the woods, he was just gone. We were mortified, needless to say we left the hotel sad and without our cat. We had officially lost the last strand to our life in Alabama. He was a Georgia cat now.. we couldn’t stay and we couldn’t find him. I have sense joined a lost and found animal Facebook page for the city we stayed in, in hopes that someone would see or find him. After being on the road for a while I was less stressed, the cat had lived outside his whole life, that’s were we found him, even tried bringing him inside. He would just scream and cry at the top of his lungs until someone let him outside. That’s were he went and that’s were he stayed. As we traveled through south and North Carolina and we neared our location, everything felt a little less tense, we were away from the toxic life in Alabama and were starting anew in North Carolina. I had been applying for jobs sense I was fired and even before that, I was ready to be done and I guess being fired was a sign that I should have been a long time ago. I now work for a website building company that allows me to be off in the weekends, gives me a decent lunch break, and I am not even called by my employer.. I’m allowed to live. It’s different than being a slave to the retail industry. I have been able to use all the schooling I have been through in this job. This has been good for me, the best thing to ever happen..

The Grave Setup.
My entire work career I had always been in the food industry. If you have ever worked in the food industry you are well aware of the laid back environment. It is entirely different from any other work environment. The personalities are more adaptive, and the rule's aren't so black and white. When you're a server/bartender you become everybody's therapist, friend, confidant, and in general somebody they can rely on. The regular guests begin to know your work schedule better than you do, because they look forward to that third party ear.

3 Essential Things You Should Know About Caregiving
Caregiving is often a misconceived job. Many people have little to no idea what it is really all about. By definition, caregiving is the activity or profession of looking after and providing care for a child, an elderly, or a sick or disabled person. Despite being a commonly used term, especially among families, many people still do not seem to understand the nature and process of caregiving. There is a lot of misconceptions surrounding this job or career.
