Who Me~Who is Me? I often wonder from day-to-day which one of me will emerge. The Grumpy know it all, or last but not least, disguised wordsmith.

Observational writing—What is an Alter-Ego personality?
Often complex complicated components of mental activities within an individual proceed that we may not always be totally cognizant of - ideas may just 'pop' into our heads; writers-creators-artist are certainly familiar with this process. The role of the subconscious may affect a person's behavior and influence actions and feelings with self-expression and communication all the same.
—Touch-Type Finger walking writing via the alter ego—
It must not be me writing. It mostly derives from my 'subconscious' streaming after thoughts spilling out that I'm rarely fully aware of. My only excuse is it may not be entirely my fault that the take-offs are not directly from me, but through me. Fingers magic have a mind of their own moving the Pen. I just go with it. Most of us think this way, but often don't focus at where 'ideas' materialize - from their own thoughts and daydreams - unnoticed. My editor is my wall; ideas tossed on it that stick are what I write about - a reliable solution.

I keep a notepad on both sides of my bed so I don't have to get up every time ideas spew out. Many luminaries dreamt of book plots; Paul McCartney has famously declared that the song 'Yesterday' came to him in a dream.
— Subliminal Messages —
Disney's Worldly-Musical Adventure connecting all people on the planet - 'It's a Small World' - We all relate in some fashion floating along with their boat-rocking messages. A refreshing yet fairy tale redundant ride. Not unlike the Good-Humors' ice cream trucks musically repetitive Tooting its Toted-Treats.
(Latin for "Other I" doppelgänger) means an alternate self believed to be distinct from a person's normal or true original personality. One's alter ego will require finding the other to come out. Actors transform themselves into the 'personality' they are portraying. Mannerisms-body posture-intonation and pauses in their speech allow them to become the character.
— Zone Out —
A race car driver describes an experience he had racing through the streets of Monte Carlo. As he put it he wasn’t driving the car as much as he was simply going along for the ride; which is obviously a strange place to be traveling at 200+ mph: The driver simply said he was in the zone!
We've all received phone calls from close friends only to tell them that we actually were just thinking of them. Although some might say it’s not just serendipity or coincidence as opposed to sending 'brain waves' to one another. The loving relationship to pets is equally curious. Human-animal relationships definitely fall into a different communication yet 'relatable' category in and of itself.

Such a fascinating reflection on the subconscious and creativity! I love how you explore the fluidity of identity and inspiration. Your writing truly makes me think—thank you for sharing! Congratulations on your well-deserved top story!
Thank you Jay and congratulations on your top story!!🎉🎉🎉
This was very enlightening! Congrats on top story. 👏🏾👏🏾
This was wonderful and highly relatable! That feeling of being in the zone is like no other! I need to keep a notebook by my bed! I always think I’ll remember in the morning and I never do!!
So insightful and I always love your artwork, Jay!
Wonderful wordsmith, that's what you are!!! Brilliant story and loved it!!! Congratulations on Top Story too!!!
Brilliant reflections, Jay. We truly never know ourselves, and if you are asking questions and having doubts it means you are a conscientious human who is always striving to be better. Congratulations on the top story, too!
Good to read this and see that I'm not alone with these thoughts.
Very thoughtful, Jay. Love the art too. Hope you've not got your grumpy face on today. Back in Blighty now but have laptop failure so going to be hindered in my communications for a bit. Glad to see you back on top. Your BritBud.
You were in 'the zone' when you wrote this, my friend! Interpretation is just as unique as the work being interpreted. Unless, of course, you try interpreting something after one too many, lol. Great article to incite conversation! L-bud
Back to say congratulations on your Top Story! 🎉💖🎊🎉💖🎊
Excellence is made to define your work! Very insightful
Great article, Jay. Creative flow comes for whenever it bloody well wants to, then spends the rest of it's time hiding under the couch when I want it most. Funny how that works, for me anyway. Also, I agree with "We've all experienced readers interpreting things that are not intended by the writer." I am quite often pleasantly surprised by someone's take on one of my pieces, when it's nothing like I intended.
lol...I just put my hands above the keyboard and pray...love your artwork and your creative mind...sometime I have to read it a few times to catch up
Woah, Jay!! This piece left me with so much to think about. This was so insightful.
Love your cartoons as ever... And it's so true when you think about someone and then they ring or text! Weird! Great article Jay.
Creative flow is an odd phenomenon indeed. I find so much out about myself when shaping a short story or poem. Autonomic writing is fascinating... especially when in the "zone". Are creative people always reinventing themselves because of their nature? Is this what it means to be innately creative means? There are many creative who believe you have to have a total dissolution of self to gain the doorway to the empathy needed to create without personality infection. This is similar to the Buddhist theory of attachment. Is creativity synonymous with freedom? Is that why we paradoxically protect and defend our creativity so much? Very well written and thought provoking.
Someone once said, we contain multitudes. Some of them are bound to fall short of exemplary! Loved your alter ego stream of consciousness and your art, Jay!
Wonderful food for thought, as always, J-bud, accompanied by the perfect "schtick" image!
Oh, how I love this, Jamigo! You explored these ideas beautifully with your wonderful style of wit and wisdom! And the schtick art and TerryLynn’s piece are fantastic! I can SO relate to the ideas flowing through—I imagine them as a swirl of light tickling our brain—tugging at our creative thread, hoping we grab on and reel them into our realm. Most of the time it takes over and I have no choice but to type like hell until it’s run its course through my keyboard. 😂 I have so many midnight notes in my phone, all misspelled from thumb typing by memory with my eyes closed (that phone light is blinding at 3am) The next morning it’s a scramble to figure out what the heck auto-correct did. 😂 I should go back to pen and paper, although that would most likely also need interpreting. You know I’m 100% on board with the brain wave idea. It happens all the time—I think of someone, and within minutes they send a text. It’s beautiful! ✨ I read a study (I’ll have to find it) where they took a couple and put them in separate rooms in the same building and hooked them up to a heart monitor. Then they instructed one of the two to think about all the things they loved about the other person, and during that time, without knowing what was going on, the recipient of the loving thoughts had an increase in heart rate. So amazing, right!?!? As far as people interpreting through their lens…let them. Write from the ether and let it land as it will. Everyone is reading through their lens that they have perfectly narrowed in to their neural pathways. Art doesn’t ask permission—it just is. It chooses the mind of a hand who will bring it to life. Another awesome and thought provoking piece! 🙌🏽(double high-fives) 💕✨
Kenny tells me that a miracle is when what a person wants and what God wants is the same thing. Seems like an interpretation to me. Ram Das said that we are 'all just walking each other home'. seems about right.
If only I was two-faced! It feels like I have a lot more faces than two...
Well-wrought! Are we a collective consciousness? Do I have an individual consciousness? Is there Divine consciousness? Is there no-consciousness? The short answer is: yes. "Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world." -Percy Shelley
