Passion
My life’s passion, people. No matter how much I try to ignore it, or move on from it. People, keep coming back to me. No matter how successful I am, or how far I chose to wonder from them. People always put food on my plate, in some way shape or form. Ever since I can remember, had the gift of communication. I can communicate with people who, when all else has failed, chose me. The tough ones, the ones who are “extra” and the ones everyone has given up on. Those are my people. The ones who are drawn to me, and I to them. I’m am an introvert by nature. I prefer the company of anything but another human being, most of the time. On the rare occasion that I chose to come out if my house, it’s to care for those who can’t care for themselves. It’s what I do. It puts food in my belly, and warmth in my soul. It’s not always easy to love the discarded, misunderstood, and the so called broken. It’s actually very taxing, not just physically, or emotionally. It’s life changing. It’s a self-sacrifice like no other. It’s also liberating to be able to give so much, when so very little is being given. I don’t do it for the love I receive, the money I’m paid or the benefits. I do it because I love seeing people happy, smiling, and excited about life. I do it because I KNOW I make a difference. I do it so people can feel loved, wanted, cared for, and needed. Everyone needs to feel love, happiness, and acceptance. Especially the ones who are hard to love. They need it the most. I never wanted an award or recognized. The introvert in me shuns that kind of attention. She prefers to do what she loves when no one is looking. Tucking someone into bed, after getting them into their pajamas. Some say if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. I’m living proof that this is the truth. I love the fact that I can make a living doing something I am literally passionate about. This is who I am, I couldn’t stop helping people if I wanted to. I’ve tried. I’m only human. I get tired. I get attached. I have real feelings, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I’m not going to sugar coat it. After the deep emotions have settled, I realize, you can run but you can’t hide from your calling. I feel like the luckiest person on earth. Some people never get to live out their passion. I do. Every day of my life. Some days, when I’m holding someone’s hand as they take their last breath, the money is not enough. The money will never be enough on those days. Most days I can’t believe they pay me to brush someone’s hair, paint their nails or taking them to church on Sunday. I’m literally living the dream. I am so thankful for the opportunities I have been given in my life. I don’t know how I got so lucky . I’ll never take my heart and soul for granted. I am truly blessed. I honestly couldn’t ask for anything more in my life. People are social creatures by nature. We need human interaction, and contact to life a healthy and full filling life. It’s a proven fact. Let’s not forget this as we live our lives. Volunteer at the nursing home, visit the elderly who may not have any one to visit them. Volunteer at the hospital to hold the drug addicted babies. They need your loving arms to grow and strive to live their little lives. Your love will help them to develop into healthy thriving individual. Science doesn’t lie. Foster a child. There are so many children who need a warm safe place to lay their heads, and kind words. This may not seem like much, but it makes a world of difference to a human being. Make a difference, support the human race. We all need it.

The Worst Christmas Story volume 1
(Warning, Its kind of offensive) In the 90s , office Christmas parties were tamer than previous decades. Demographics kicked in and boomers had to go home early to pay babysitters and retain marriages. Add to that, all the previously employee shitshows that ended up embarrassing major companies and their law firms, the bacchanalian corporate soirees were now a relic. A taxi drivers loss. Oh, and a recession was in full swing. Those that wanted the older version took their nostalgia to "VIP" rooms.

They Come to Snuff the Rooster Santana

Some of the old timers that I attended school with as a boy do not believe it ever took place. But my cousin Tito and I still remember it clearly. Way to welcome us all in with open arms! What about an open door policy?
It was a beautiful morning and the sun had just risen above the horizon. The birds could be heard along with the sounds of multiple animals making their presence known. It was surreal and fascinating to be on a safari in a huge animal reserve. The hope was to see and capture the images of as many wild animals as possible as my time in Africa was coming to an end. As we made our way through the reserve, I saw it. I called it ‘la girafe’ because for some reason everything sounds so much more refined and educated when said in French.

An Ode to Cake
While watching "Most Ridiculous" with my preteen daughter recently they played a video of a small group of people singing "Happy Birthday" to a little boy. He didn't seem very enthused and casually flipped over his before they had a chance to finish their song. It looked like something that his poor mother probably stayed up all night baking. I identify with that on a deep spiritual level, because I know exactly how much effort it takes to bake a cake with love. It was a very funny video and I'm sure that it will be a fond memory when he gets older.

My Nightmare From The Kitchen
My summer is not turning out the way I expected it to be. First, I am stuck in a different country far away from home. So, no family, no friends, and no home food. God, do you know how long I has waited to be able to go home, sit and relax and not have to meal prep? I was so sure my mother had already planned all our meals for the whole of my summer break because she missed me. Meal prepping is the single worst idea we have come up with as humans, and we have a lot of wacky ideas, so this is saying something. You’re telling me, that I must hold down two jobs, do full time university, and cook my own food, do my laundry, and basically survive on my own with no help from anyone else? Is this what adulting is because I feel more clueless than ever.

Does anyone notice that older generations, especially Boomers, have a saying for something. Its as if these people live as if real life were a television show. In a sense, every other sentence they speak has to be some catchphrase or motto. While most of what older folks say may be funny, at times their words can be infuriating.
