humanity
For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.
BLESSD
He stared at himself in the bathroom mirror as a part of his daily morning routine. Today, a bit more unfamiliar with what he was looking at than yesterday. Today he turns 25. The man in the mirror, hair beginning to gray, face beginning to sag, and a smile that inverts slightly every time he takes a peek at it. That man in the mirror turns 50 today. They both have what is known as Progeria; a rare genetic condition that results in a child’s body aging rapidly. Most children with Progeria don’t make it past the age of 13, but fortunately enough for him, doctors have made a breakthrough that has slowed down the aging process significantly.

Money, Today
“What’s fifty grand to someone like me/ can you please remind me…” I sing along to Jay-Z in the van speakers asking what is probably a rhetorical question. I haven’t heard this song in so long- it is so dated at this point I feel old listening to it- like I don’t know any better music. But it is such a good song!

A Romantic Taurus Says the Stars
I was born an exact week early with my birthday being May 3, 1991, and making me a Taurus. I have always found the idea of star signs to be fascinating. So many debates go into whether it is based on truth or just straight up pseudoscience, but one thing is for sure, looking up your star sign and talking about it with others can be quite an enjoyable discussion.

Your Words Matter
The day started out like any other. Cassie stirred in her sleep as her body awoke her from her slumber. Instinctively she reached for her phone. 6.35am. She sighed and rolled back over. She didn’t need to be at work for another two hours. She sat up, stretched her arms above her head and pulled back the covers. She reached for her make up bag and began her morning routine. Cassie was relatively pretty so her routine did not take long. She carefully placed a light layer of foundation over her olive skin, and applied mascara to her dark eyelashes. She pondered the day ahead of her as she brushed through her mousy brown, wavy hair.

population to many
There's approximately 7.647 billion people on planet earth, there's 264 babies born permit, which means 385,000 babies per day, 140 million per year, by 2056 there have been estimates there will be 10 billion people. Where we all fit? obviously we all die at some point but they takes years for many to do, so how are we all gonna fit on this already over populated planet? we've already discovered that some of the other planets could have humans on it, so why don't we take some of them and put them there? because that would mean we'd have to train them to survive there, and let's face it, most of humanity isn't that smart, we never follow directions, hence the corona virus spreading faster than we thought possible, it wouldn't be good for us to make a home for ourselves on other planets, it's bad enough we litter the one we live on, we should all recycle, pick up our trash, about 90% of people do, but that 10% does a big difference, we as a community need to do better, we need to be nicer to each other, we were all put here for a reason, we all have a purpose, we all have a part in our lives where it's pouring, but it's how we deal with it that makes us strong or weak, we need to help each other not hurt each other like we've been doing, we need to reach out a hand to someone we think might need it, we need to hold the door open for strangers, yes even if you're a man and you hold it open for another man, it doesn't make you any less of a man, in fact it makes you more of a man to do so, and men, stop putting your hand on a girls waist while trying to get by, they don't like it and it's creepy, if we're all gonna be living on this overpopulated planet might as well make it a good one, one where our future kids look forward to life, one where they don't have to worry, my generation doesn't look forward to tomorrow, when we go to sleep at night we don't want to wake up, we worry about climate change and if we'll even live to be thirty, we start stupid trends like tiktok to take our minds off things, we care way to much and not at all at the same time, we want to change the world but we don't even know where to start, because we always get shut down when we try and speak up about this stuff, i may only be 20 but i'm living in a homeless shelter in fortsmith arkansas because my parents kicked me out at 18 because i came out as a trans man, you're supposed to love your child unconditionally, no matter what you're supposed to support your family, especially your kids, what they did was hateful and wrong, they didn't even try and understand me, and i tried my hardest since then to reconnect with them and they won't do it, please don't abandon people, we all need each other and everything happens for a reason, so why do we as a society keep hurting each other? we're all in the same boat just different waters, we are all running the same race and our destination is death, we may try and out run it, to slow down our deaths but the truth is, as soon as we're born we start to die, that's just facts, it seems scary but once you start to accept it you start seeing the beauty in every day things, you might not have realized that you should be thankful for being able to wake up another day and breath, to make a difference in this world as you go about your day, the sun it's self is a beautiful thing, it gives us light and helps guide us yet it can hurt us if we're around it for long periods at a time. we as a society are beautiful, yet we hurt each other, and there's beauty in the pain. that's all for now folks have a good day and thanks for the read!

The Blue Coat Lady and the Little Black Book
The Blue Coat Lady and the Little Black Book Carrie couldn’t remember how long she’d been homeless. Was it 3 winters? 5? Like most street kids, she had beauty and bravery she could not see, skills she did not recognize, and blame and shame that never belonged to her.

One of Us
“Let’s get the fuck out of here”. Melanie Davis was growing impatient. Exhaustion overcame her as she and her personnel swiftly exited the hall where she just delivered a speech for an audience of one thousand. Life on the campaign trail isn’t easy. Running for re-election in her Ward, Melanie was struggling to keep up with the demands of the City’s by-elections while also managing day-to-day affairs as a City Councillor.

What Singing Feels Like
Sophie wouldn’t stop crying. Her sobs periodically tightened to a dissatisfied screech, and I gave up scrambling in the diaperbag to lift her with her blanket out of the carseat, pivoting in my squat on very non-sensible shoes. She flailed her chubby arms in slow, jerky, underwater circles as I rose and eased down in the booth again. One arm lightly bounced her and held her against my belly. The table edge left little room and she tore and smeared my sweater. I hated that I was worrying about my sweater again. The other hand fiddled the blanket over my shoulders, adjusting for the friction’s catch, until my lap and its squirming noise were properly pavilioned, and then felt for the buttons. They had been a little taut anyway. I could hear Sophie still upset, and she wouldn’t take. There, Sophie, what do you need? I caressed her head under the blanket as she twisted it this way and that. The cafe still echoed with her screams. I sighed. Glancing to the left I caught the eye of a woman across me from before we both turned away. Her look of impatience hung in my mind. I glared for a second at the paper cup on the table in front of me, froth still visible through the lipstick-stained lid.
