How My Amateur Footage Got Into a YouTube Documentary
You never know what random opportunities can come from browsing social media. I stumbled upon one of these opportunities in the summer of 2020. While I was browsing Instagram, an ad popped up that caught my eye. It was from YouTube, encouraging people to film their lives for potential inclusion in a brand new documentary film, Life in a Day 2020. The film is a direct sequel to Life in a Day, released in 2010. The original film was distributed by National Geographic, released on YouTube, directed by Oscar-winning documentarian Kevin McDonald, and also includes Ridley Scott as the executive producer. Now, after the insanity that resulted from COVID-19, the creators of the original film wanted to come back and create a time capsule from a single day in the life of the world: July 25, 2020.

If I only had a heart
When I think of being fulfilled, it is always the same thought. The thought that I have had since I was in 5th grade. I want to have something I have created, using my imagination and creativity, be able to provide a livable wage for me and my family.

The Love Story of my Lifetime
If you're lucky, you encounter someone who changes your life for the better. If you're even luckier, that person happens to be your father. My father gave me the world when all he had was nothing. I grew up in poverty and suffered several traumatic events before I could even dress myself. My dad was a magical and unparalleled force that never let me notice the trauma.

Yes She Can..Yes She Did
I realized at an early age that I had a knack for making people laugh when they were sad, I could also bring them to tears with laughter when I felt like being silly. Ironic though no one could do the same for me. This is my story to share. I was raised in a loving home with my mom, dad and brother. Sadly to say they are all in Heaven now.

329 years ago today Bridget Bishop was the first hanged in the witch trials. Not the first accused but the first to die. Salem is so full of unique and welcoming town. So unless you were born under a rock and never heard of the place, you would never know what kind of blemish this place has in the American history. Town officials in 1692 killed an innocent 20 persons. But why though? Because this 20 were different. They didn’t fit into the mold of their “normal”. Which is crap…sorry. I digress.

A CALL TO ACTION
While reading The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, I was moved when he described applying our gifts and abilities passionately and from within. I began to ponder what activities bring me excitement. What captures my attention and reveals the true nature of my heart? I realize that I feel most accomplished, and utter joy from within, when I can help a person in need. “If I can help somebody, as I travel along….”, sings Mahalia Jackson. In my years, I have taken many people from all walks of life into my home. Even when I have had nothing to offer but shelter or a few words of advice. Some were family, some friends, and others have been strangers. I could not always give a person the help they needed and had to point them on to other alternatives in the right directions; but never because I did not try. As I look back over my life, even to the present, I realize that I was made to serve others. This has been my calling all along. My struggles of life prepared me for a future of knowing who to try to help, how, and why they were in my path. Everything happens for a reason.

The Shattered Mirror
Once upon a time there was a mirror. Clear and flawless, the mirror reflected the best of Creation, revealing only that which was of beauty. All who looked upon the reflection shown upon the mirror’s face saw the best version of themselves - pure light shone back at them.

Creating a Caring Message during the Covid-Crisis
When I was growing up one of my favorite things to do on my birthday was to open up the card and read the kind words someone had written to me. I guess just knowing your cared about brought me a lot of joy, still does. In the year 2020 our world was flipped upside down by Coronavirus and chaos, and I was tired of staying home and seeing the news, so much hate in this world, breaks my heart. So I decided one day in March 2020 to start delivering food to those that need help or that were at high risk and couldn't go out. Just leaving it at their door wasn't enough for me, I wanted to give people something to smile about in these troubling times, and let them see there is hope, there are people out there that care and just want to help because it's the right thing to do. So I decided to leave their order neatly by the front door with a personalized note (different for Every Customer) thanking them for their order and allowing me to work and also letting them know I handle every order with care and clean hands. A simple task that can make all the difference to somebody who isn’t having the best day, and that is worth it to me.

Keeping memories safe
A little about me They say the place you are born in defines you, but for me it is different. I come from a place where one does not have the freedom of simple things as the society is less open-minded. Moreover, the families in such a society stay conservative in order to blend in, in turn applying sorts of restrictions on their younger generations. I was not allowed to go out with friends or to watch a movie in a theatre. The more I was shackled into not stepping out, the more curious I became about the world. I wondered how amazing it would be to travel to the incredible places that I only know by names. So I decided to work very hard, to get out of where I come from and make a better life for myself. Now I can safely say that I have accomplished what I planned and have also seen some lovely places which seemed far-fetched before. There is still a long way to go and so I will.

Diversity & Inclusion or Inclusion & Diversity: Where to start matters
If you are in a corporate role or seeking your collegiate education, you may be hearing a lot of swirl on Diversity and Inclusion or one or the other. As an HR professional and a life-long learner, I often see these two used in very different contexts or as interchangeable words.

Art Therapy - Easing a Soldier's Burden
Sometimes life is challenging. The old saying, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”, is one that most people know. When dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, you get a great deal of lemons and sometimes you just don’t want lemonade because making lemonade is too overwhelming to do.
