humanity
For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.
Access isn't just about buildings
The issue of Access is often a contentious one, if you talk to someone with a disability then there is always problems with not enough being done, yet if you talk to people in authority there are always excuses as to why more can not be done. I appreciate that there are times when it is not possible for there to be access to something be it the physical limitations of the person themselves (e.g. rock climbing) or through buildings being so old that they can't be adjusted enough to be fully accessible.

84 Years on the Cutting Edge
I was described this way by my best friend, Anne, my opposite in every way: She was 19 and leggy. She shopped in the best boutiques, ate in the best restaurants, and carried over $100 in loose change and bills in her oversized purse. She ate sandwiches without crusts, gorged on seafood and ate from fine china by candlelight. She drank water with a twist of lemon before it was fashionable. She married a Marine and staged a military pageant for her wedding, designing and making all the gowns. She began 1,000 projects every year and finished two. She was by spells, careless, wasteful, totally unfocused, but always inspired. It was 1956.

Transcribing The Past
I look at the pages of a historical text online. It could be any kind of text. A pamphlet from a bygone era, a book forgotten to time, or a newspaper that no one knows about. I scan the text, focusing on how the words are formatted on the page. I edit pre-typed text that is supposed to mirror this formatting, or sometimes type it myself. I press save on the page, happy that a small piece of history has been converted to a form suitable for online consumption. I repeat this step until I get bored and then resume it again at another point when I'm looking for something to do.

Howe can I help you...?
Before my roommates leaves for Italy, I asked him, "Joe, do you think we will have a zombie apocalyptic collapse?" He smiles and says, "Depends on what movie you are watching..." Haaa. We laugh and turn to our T.V. ( as if the planet is NOT dying. )

What do you create for those who have difficulty feeling?
As a young, bi-racial man who grew up in an urban community where my friends and I graduating high school would have been a first for most families, starting a business was a farfetched idea. The goal was always to have a profession that paid…enough. Enough to not struggle. Enough to never question your next meal. Enough to spend time with your family. All the things that our parents did not have enough to do. So you will understand the miracle that was graduating college with a business degree.

Sewing Safety
I am sitting in my one room basement apartment. It is dark, even though it is daytime. I’m in a lot of pain from cramps, crying while I watch a tv show but I’m not really paying attention. I can’t remember a time I have felt despair like this. If I could stop existing in this moment I would.

Starting over
2020 was a strange year, but 2021 even more so for me. A year of upheaval and change had caused me, like many others, to upend my own life and reevaluate what I actually wanted. In January my spouse and I were planning a cross-country move to shake things up a bit. I'd been living in my hometown for five years longer than I had meant to at that point and, while I'd accomplished things I was proud of during my time there, the move was long overdue and I was starting to get antsy. A year of being cooped up inside (save for long walks with the dog) certainly hadn't helped.

Leaving My Job. Again.
Tomorrow morning, will be my last day at this one job. Little back story: I started at this restaurant because I needed to get out of the job I was in. My sister was working at this job as a server. I would come on as a line cook. Things were good. I got a raise within a few months. Started learning new things. Within six months I invited myself to the manager meetings. Things were good.
