Creating a Caring Message during the Covid-Crisis
Giving people something to smile about while we deal with these tough times.

When I was growing up one of my favorite things to do on my birthday was to open up the card and read the kind words someone had written to me. I guess just knowing your cared about brought me a lot of joy, still does. In the year 2020 our world was flipped upside down by Coronavirus and chaos, and I was tired of staying home and seeing the news, so much hate in this world, breaks my heart. So I decided one day in March 2020 to start delivering food to those that need help or that were at high risk and couldn't go out. Just leaving it at their door wasn't enough for me, I wanted to give people something to smile about in these troubling times, and let them see there is hope, there are people out there that care and just want to help because it's the right thing to do. So I decided to leave their order neatly by the front door with a personalized note (different for Every Customer) thanking them for their order and allowing me to work and also letting them know I handle every order with care and clean hands. A simple task that can make all the difference to somebody who isn’t having the best day, and that is worth it to me.

When it's my friends birthday's I always give them a card, but something more than just that, a card that shows them they matter to me and I create a unique card to show them they are special and they do mean something to me. When I started doing deliveries I was working on a card for a friend’s birthday one day and it clicked to me to start doing these cards for my customers to build a bond and make them feel safe. I start with a card and I give the envelope a special and unique look that is always different, I place stickers on the envelope and keep going till I cover the envelope and create a collage inspired look that always makes people smile. When I am done with that I cover the envelope in Mod Podge to give it a shimmery look that keeps the card looking fresh and special for each customer. It’s just a simple card with a special touch to remind people kindness still exists and small things like this can make all of the difference to someone going through tough times.

Someone ask me if I do it to see if I get a better tip and honestly that was the last thing on my mind. I do it cause I want to, I do it so maybe someone else will be inspired to create and spread love. There is a lot of bad in the world today and it seems to be getting worse, but hopefully a change will come soon.
So during these tough times I wanted to give everyone something to smile about and look forward to better days, and I believe this is a step in the right direction. My parents taught me from a young age to be honest and to treat others the way I’d like to be treated. I consider my parents my heroes, they love me for who I am and have always made me feel safe, and every good hearted trait I have, I’ve learned from them. They are two of the sweetest people I’ve ever met and I am so happy to call them mom and dad. I will always do the right thing and treat people with respect and care, cause violence is never the way to lead to a Brighter and Better Future.
