humanity
For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.
LAUGHTER
Just joking! It's a joke! Why can't you take a joke? Can you relate? It's not a trick question. It's not a joke! As a firstborn with three younger siblings, my responsibilities were numerous. In addition, my astrological sign is Capricorn. Well, it's all seriousness stuff. It's taking care of business! It's the bottom line! It's doing the right thing. Right!

Writings on Covid-19
Something that I find kind of fascinating with the Covid-19 pandemic that we’ve all been experiencing for…(counts) 18 months-ish (if it started in March 2020 where you are, as it did where I am), is the fact that everyone on the entire planet can relate to the experience as we are all going through it. And that’s just so strange to think about. I don’t think there has been any other experience that every human being in the world can also relate to. Isn’t that crazy to think about? And life has turned into a world of dichotomies - mask wearing vs. not, vaccination vs. not (and if you have got the vaccine, it’s almost like a competition! Which one did you get? Pfizer? Or AstraZeneca, Moderna or J&J (or other ones that are more regional like Sputnik V in Russia)).

The Default Woman
Married, maybe with a kid or two? Definitely with a title Mrs. In recent years, whenever I book a doctor's appointment or even apply for a job, the default title is Mrs. Most of the time I have already told them that I am unmarried. But whenever I get the final receipts, I could see myself addressed as Mrs. Somehow the world does not want to accept me as an entity that can exist without relating to a man. During the first few instances, I was amused. Then as the years passed, I could see that people don't want to see me as I am. It is a common perception and I can't blame everyone for not being able to see a woman beyond these titles and tags. But it worries me a little bit more whenever I am getting such treatment from another woman.

Living with chronic pain
How much do you know about chronic pain? Have you ever experienced it? How long have you had to deal with your chronic pain? I've lost count of the number of years I've had my pain. I'm sure I could tell you if I sat down and really thought about it, but I frequently find it hard to concentrate or even remember things. I'm told this is a side effect of living with chronic pain. I don't know but I can say that when my pain is strong enough, I feel like I'm disconnected from everything around me. It sort of feels like being in a fog. I also feel easily irritated and just OFF. I don't know how else to explain it.

Tuesday
I live next to squatters. They aren’t the worst neighbors, legal or not. Generally keeping to themselves, the most I can say in criticism is that they’re sometimes too loud when I’m trying to sleep. It would be absurd to consider them bad people on the basis of their housing situation, but I can’t help but wonder about the circumstances that led them there. I wish they had a place to call their own. I begin to ruminate about the material conditions of the people in this area. I stay up too late, partly out of stubbornness, and vow to do better with my time management. I resign myself to my bed as I have work in the morning.

Homelessness: no one gets there without help
"God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in his shoes 'Cause then you really might know what it's like to sing the blues..." (Everlastʻs What itʻs like, from their 1998 album, Whitey Ford Sings the Blues, Universal Music Publishing).
