humanity
For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.
Wood's Wet
"Wood’s Wet!" This requires a little background, so bear with me. This isn’t so much one inside joke, but a number of one-off things that happened that everyone still laughs about today, all of which are centered around our annual vacation together. There’s no single inside joke that stands above the rest, but “Wood’s Wet!” is one of the most memorable and probably the easiest to explain.

Talking to the (non) Hate
Why can’t I talk to you? I talk to you about happy things. I even express my sad things, but when it comes to casual things, I can’t talk to you. You joke about the insecurities. Pretend that it’s ok because it’s for laughs. When it honors you and not the other is funny right? You don’t even know and yet if called out, you’re the one that feels guilty and runs away. I feel sad when I can’t talk to you. The things you do become things that can change over time but I won’t be the one who finally changes you because that’s all you. Sometimes I feel the more we get to talk, the more we get to know each other, we grow. When you talk about love and lust, I want to think you’re talking about me. In reality, you could be talking about your ex. How your relationship went, or how things around you remind you of what used to be.

21 in Vegas
What does one do when they turn 21 years of age? A question that is often asked, but almost never answered the same way. That answer truly depends entirely on the individual in question. Mainly because of the fact that we are all different people respectfully. Some people tend to be low key and just want to go out for a simple meal at their favorite restaurant. Some people are party animals and would prefer to go clubbing. Others still will tell you that they just want to go away for the weekend because they wanted to make memories. Although it was almost 10 years ago to the day, I remember mine to the last detail. I went to Las Vegas, Nevada for my 21st birthday. So, in a way, I have done all three of those things during that time.

The Hallmark of greatness
For every great height you attain in life there is a price to pay or a price that must have been paid. No one wakes up in the morning and sees themselves up to where they have been longing to be. It is not enough to wish or desire greatness, but there has to be a hallmark that must be shown for you to have deserved such greatness or success.

Status of Women in the Contemporary World
Gender is a societal concept and has a loose thread connected to the biologically constructed boxes by society. It’s about how an individual wants to be presented and pronounced. The word “women” in the following article is an umbrella term for all binary and non-binary individuals who pronounce themselves as “she” and voices the woes of a certain section of society.

Renaissance Festival War Stories Sept 18/19, 2021
Saturday Morning, early, the riddle booth starts fairly slow. People walk by and no one stops for almost an hour to riddle. During that time a couple is walking and stops to take a selfie near us. I stop them and offer to take their picture. Of course, I flip the camera and take a selfie first, but that was not the point. I take several nice framed up pictures for them. I get the iron dragon in the background, no people walking in the background, and say things to make them laugh to get genuine smiles. They are grateful and thankful for the pictures, and the fact I took the time to get a variety. They are in regular clothes, then they tell me, today is their 31st wedding anniversary, and they are former Renaissance Fest workers themselves. They worked at Jacob's Ladder in their younger years. I was so happy to start their day on a positive note.

The Killing Fields of Derby
I arrived at the house in the dead of a rainy night. It was the first time I had been to Scotland. My loud knock brought the landlord. He was of African descent, mysterious, and talked in circles. “Welcome, I’ll show you around,” he said. “Would you like the money for rent?” I asked. He looked at me and beyond me, “No, perhaps tomorrow we can talk about that.” “How many live here, “I asked. “We invite many guests, a community.” His thick accent proved difficult to my ear.
