humanity
For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.
To the Nasty Tortoise
To the Nasty Tortoise: You called my attackers homophobic bums, resting a limp, semi-paralyzed hand on my shaking shoulder. And my blood pulsed with rage when I told you I wanted to kill them, all of them. I wanted to scrub them all away like dirty footprints.

Be Positive
Be Positive In Hope we Trust Has anyone ever heard the joke of the vampire and the type of blood he donates. Well, its quite simple. It turns out the vampire donates B-Positive. Why is this important? Revealed here is a Quintessent connotation to volunteering oneself (despite not being a vampire realistically) to better the surroundings ; to take action in a philanthropic manner; and to wrap up doing the following: getting out of the negative surroundings and convincing others to take action themselves.

A Journey Within Therapy 2022
”It’s your road and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.” I see this quote and I immediately think of my father and some of his more infamous, crass, indifferent and tough love quotes. “It is what it is” and “When I’m dead and gone no one will do this for you so learn it now,” in regards to my lupus. As I recover and recuperate from my last hospital stay; the first one this year but, the fourth in a span of three months. Whenever my dad would say his quotes of wisdom I would go in rebellion mode and think who in their right mind would let you raise a kid by yourself and who hurt you to be so cold to your sick child like that; as I rolled my eyes and had attitude registered all on my face away from his view. I was bold but not that bold when it came to my father aka the Warden for the way he sheltered me from the world despite having me grow up fast.

Let's See Ourselves as More Than One-dimensional
Many times we look at ourselves in the mirror and only notice our physical appearance. We pick on one feature we dislike or preen at another feature we like. For me, I focus too much on my obesity. Yet, we often neglect to see ourselves as multidimensional--like a disco ball. We are so much more: our talents, weaknesses, memories, knowledge, thoughts, and feelings. We may take that perspective outward to judge others based on their most obvious characteristic too.

I also, have a dream
My name is Martin King. I was named after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and I will admit, for a long time I kept thinking, would I ever live up to such a great man. He was human, and he wasn't perfect, as none of us are, however he showed courage and love and the will to keep going and make change. Change is something that needed to happen and the start of a drastic change did, and it continued and still affects today and will always and hopefully, people learn the message, that we are indeed human, created to be here and love one another and support each other and not cause hate and discrimination because the color of one's skin, but instead rejoice for our unique differences and grow with one another. A world, unified and working towards a better future...that's the world that should exist.

All the colors of kindness
Hometown Heroes Heroes come in many different shapes and sizes. Mine is a 6’3”, 200 pound gentle giant who just happens to be my husband. He probably wouldn’t characterize himself as a “hero”. After all, he doesn’t routinely run into burning buildings to rescue people or perform life saving operations. To my knowledge, he’s saved only one life - mine - and I probably don’t say it enough, but I owe him a debt of gratitude a lifetime cannot repay..

An Open Love Letter to My Students
To My Students, I love you all so much. All 1,100 of you! I don’t know if you realize how much it means to me that you have put your trust and faith in me for the past 16 years. As your school counselor, I have come to know so many of you on a level that only a few other privileged souls will ever know. It means the world to me, and I thank you for that.

Truth
There are so many thoughts we have, sometimes from regrets, or the decisions we must make, or maybe thoughts of what might be in the future. Thoughts are our energy, a construct of unlimited form within our own mind. Our thoughts can create thoughts, that create thoughts, and so on and so forth. From our very minds, we can create a multitude of ideas, thoughts and creations. Gods in our own minds, we can create things, whole universes that nobody else would know. Does thinking create truth? A truth within its' own realm of understanding, is still a truth, even if it's not truth outside of it. Words, meanings, perceptions...all shift based on who views and who receives that understanding. From everything that exist, comes first, the thought. For we could not view ourselves, those around us, our planet, and beyond, without first thinking about anything at all. We are a mind, within a body, puppeteering around, most trying to find their own meaning to the life they live, but, in the end, we make our our destiny, with our thought.

A Letter To The Doc Who Believed Me. Top Story - February 2022.
Appointment, after appointment, after appointment. I remember everyone just shrugging their shoulders and suggesting that maybe it was just my anxiety. It can have an effect on the gastrointestinal system. It can cause pain. Therapy would probably help, maybe I should look into pain management.

The case of Living Breath versus the Death Machine.
It was a beautiful moment I was granted twice in my life. Being a witness to the emerging of my children from their mother's womb. I ensured I looked to see my child was really there each time. It was a dream at first, a small creation I was one half responsible for bringing into this place we call our home.
