For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.
Bulletproof Backpacks for Children
Growing up I can remember school was the place I looked forward to being at the most. It gave me the opportunity to learn, have fun and create good memories with friends. It wasn't a place that I feared for my life. I can remember practicing fire and tornado drills for safety purposes. It wasn't a place that I had to learn active shooter drills or carry a bulletproof backpack. Why is this normal now?

Sorry Texas
Dear Texas, When I heard about what happened I got very sad and my heart broke. I cannot imagine how you feel. I'm not sure I want to know honestly. But I do know this. I know that things need to change for real, I know that we need to keep people safe. I know this isn't funny and never was. I know that people need to do something to make sure this never happens again. I'm so sorry that this keeps happening in the world. I would never want to raise kids in a world like this. I'm so sorry to all the kids who have to deal with this and be scared of going to school. School is supposed to be fun and you're supposed to play with your friends and make fun memories. Not be scared for your life. I cannot understand why someone would think that terrorizing a school would be okay. I cannot understand why someone would think that terrorizing anywhere is okay.

The Suitcase
Somewhere along the path of my life, I developed the concept of “the suitcase”. The suitcase is, basically, the baggage I choose to carry along with me during the course of my life. I’m not sure where the idea came from, but I have had this mental suitcase for most of my conscious life. We all have a mental suitcase, and a million times each day we are given an opportunity to decide what we want to put in there.

The Sun will Shine Again
As you hold your children tight in this world full of violence in chaos, as you try to find the rainbow after the storm of tears that has befell this country, I stand with you I pray with you and I hope you know that your not alone in the heaviness you carry.

F%ck Mental Health
Mental Health is just as important as Physical Health. It should not have a negative connontation to it. As someone with High Functioning Anxiety, Depression, Panic Disorder and complex PTSD. I can certainly attest to the struggle of Mental Illness. Those with Mental Illnesses are not broken, disabled or unworthy of a happy life. I'd like to pull back the curtain on what it's like to live everyday with Mental Illnesses. There are so many things we have to cope with everyday. Let's talk about High Functioning Anixety to start with: You see someone who is detail orientated and hardworking and always on time. What you don't see is someone who is so afraid of messing up even slightly that we have to be detail orientated. Someone who is so afraid of being a minute late that they're always on time. For fear of getting in trouble. You also don't see someone who feels like they HAVE to work all the time otherwise we feel useless or not doing enough.

Is Sports Betting Gambling?
Sports betting is the activity of predicting sports results and placing bets or wagers on certain outcomes. An example of sports betting would be predicting the number of goals a star player will score in a soccer match or betting on the number of three pointers a basketball player will make in the upcoming game. The goal of sports betting is, of course, to make the most accurate bets and win as much money as possible. But as more and more states legalize sports betting, many wonder whether it's gambling and whether it’s a safe habit to take up.

You Need Your Emotions Validated Whether You're From Mars or Venus
"Sometimes, she just wants a sympathetic ear." Recently, my husband and I started watching Modern Family. I had watched it before but stopped. It came out when I was in grad school, trying to figure out where I was in life. Marriage and kids were so far away, that I couldn't relate. Now, with 2 kids and half a decade of marriage under my belt, it felt right to start again.
