friendship
C.S Lewis got it right: friendship is born when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one!"
To give an Extension of Friendship
When I We all face this invisible crossroads with a comrade. If it's the friend from the past to the present that has always been a prominent person in our life. If it's someone in the present that was an acquaintance or a casual friend, and eventually became a steady friend with hopes it could be a wonderful friendship apart of our timelines. Either side of the spectrum, new or not. It doesn't change that something changed or became noticed that makes the re-considering of that extension of friendship.

You Never Know What You Have Until It's Gone
Dunno about you, but it takes a significant experience or change for me to really understand things in life. Not all but some. I recently started reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. He put forward his analysis of 'paradigms' and their shifts. Without giving too much of a summary, paradigms are essentially our individual perceptions of life - how we see the world. In order for us to change how we see and understand life requires a paradigm shift.

One Hell of a Dame
And there she was. Beautiful. Nineteen years old and had never left the country. Plans changed and she was alone. So when she received an invite to ride through Europe on the back of a bike, it was an opportunity she couldn’t resist. With a freshly broken heart and a ticket to England, she had no idea she was about to embark on the journey that would begin the rest of her life.

I Call Her My Magical Unicorn
So let us start from the beginning... Where am I, what is happening, and how did I end up here again? It's kind of crazy the effect a boy breaking your heart can do to you. Make you feel like your whole world is falling apart, and at that moment, nothing seems like it can take away the pain.

The Woman Who Changed my Life in One Summer
It was the summer of 2019 and it was just the beginning of yet another summer at The Summer Camp for Girls in Washington Maine. I had been a staff at this camp for what was going to be my second summer but I had grown up there as a camper and a counselor in training. The staff was just beginning to start our training for that summer when our boss announced that we would be having another staff come in but she would be late due to flying in internationally. We were about three days in when Mandisa arrived. Turns out she had come from Johannesburg, South Africa and that is why it took her so long to get to camp. I know this sounds cliche, but as soon as Mandi arrived I knew she was different. I know what you're thinking, no not in a love kind of way; in a inspiring way. Something about her presence gave me chills from the start. Just like I was about to meet someone who I never would forget.

The Other Side of Pain
A car accident brought me to her. I, better than most, know all about life's ups and downs. The should ofs , and wish I hads. The truth of the matter is, life is literally what you make it. What you work towards, and how much you are willing to suffer to achieve your greatness. You can do anything but you gotta start. I admit that I knew this before I met her. Seeing Deb though in her element, listening to the words she carefully considered and spoke, I re-learned. Sometimes you have to hit your lowest point to get what you want. Now that bleak, and overwhelming morning I was not thinking about where it would bring me months down the road. I wasn't thinking about who I would eventually meet because of it. In that moment I was not mindful, I was afraid and driven by fear … funny enough it drove me right into the power source I needed.

Jackillem: Long Live the Legendary Latina. Third Place in Women Who Inspire Challenge.
I like to think I have an abundance of inspiring women to write about. I could tell you the story of how my grandmother came from living in poverty during and post WWII in a family of 11 to finding wealth in America. I could talk about my incredible doula friends for days that are undoing the indoctrination of fear that exists around birth culture. In case you're unfamiliar, birth doulas are (usually) women who educate and offer emotional and physical support to a pregnant person before, during and after giving birth. It's like the best friend you could ever ask for during pregnancy. I could also introduce you to my main inspiration these days, a bad ass single mother living in a country where she had no friends or family that grew a business that didn't really exist, into a 6 figure company. I'm truly blessed to be surrounded and influenced by so many kick ass women in my life. But when I read the prompt for this writing challenge, there was only one woman who came to mind. I want to tell you about my friend Jacky.

Stacy Junko Hayashi
I wish I would have known her better. I watched her from a distance. I admired her profoundly. At times I even envied her. She was a few months older than me but I often felt our age gap was bigger because she carried herself so fearlessly. We came from different parts of the world. She was a Japanese girl from LA and I was a Finnish girl who had moved to New York from Helsinki. Our paths crossed in September 2017 at 520 8th Avenue through our mutual love and adoration of improvisational theatre (where everything is made up on the spot) .

Kindred Spirits
There are countless incredible women in my life that I have found it quite difficult to pinpoint one individual that has inspired me more than others. I find all women amazing in their own right and I’m grateful to be surrounded by many in my life that inspire me and motivate me on the daily. In the spirit of honouring Women’s History Month I’m going to share a story that is near and dear to my heart and that happened fairly recently.

WHERE DO WE BELONG?
WOMEN WHO INSPIRE: WHERE DO WE BELONG? We belong to beauty and we are in the service of it. I am reminded of this when I am around Anna-Alexia Basile simply because of our relationship. For me, belonging and inspiration are inextricably linked.

Intro: People say I need to let go of you... they say that I need to move on and forget about you... but what if I don't want to... what if I want to remember you. I think about you all the time, remembering the smile on your face, all the times we laughed for no reason, but mostly how much I miss you & wish you were here. Sometimes you just have to realize not all friendships were meant to last forever. I guess ours is one of those. Just sitting here trying to figure out... What happened?
