fiction
Horror fiction that delivers on its promise to scare, startle, frighten and unsettle. These stories are fake, but the shivers down your spine won't be.
STOP!
Running, running, running. The night is pitch, a blanket of darkness that engulfs the landscape and blinds those who dare to tread. Don’t go out after dark, they say, for even that which is known becomes strange. They want to scare us, to keep us away, but away from what? The darkness cannot hurt you anymore then the day.

T.H.E.M
It was a dark and stormy night, when the newlyweds came back from their honeymoon to their newly purchased cottage. They ran to the porch at the back of the cottage with newspapers over their heads. Sharon giggled and said, "I feel just like Brad and Janet from that movie...what was it called?" "Rocky Horror Picture Show" Todd said, rather matter-of-factly. "And that couple wasn't married yet. I am the happiest man in the world! May I carry my beautiful wife over our first threshold?" "Why, of course, my handsome husband! I am the luckiest girl in the world!" Todd lifted her with ease. "He worked out way too regularly, sometimes" Sharon thought. But she also loved being in his strong arms like this. She felt SO safe with Todd! She opened the door as he carried her into their cottage and sat her down and kissed her deeply. Before they found the light switch, they could hear scurrying. Sounded bigger than mice. But when the light was on, there was nothing in sight. "What in the world could that have been?" Sharon had jumped back into Todd's arms. He laughed and said, "They scurried away. They are more afraid of us and will find somewhere to go now that we are home." She slowly put her feet back on the floor. "Will you go check the bathroom so that I can get a shower and clean up, while you bring the bags and stuff in? Then I can unpack and get dressed for our first night in our first little home, while you get a shower." "Sounds like a plan!" says Todd as he struts to the bathroom. He turns on the light and screams like a little girl. Sharon comes running in to see what there was. "Todd was standing behind the door and jumped out to scare her. "I thought you were too scared! If you had been, you would have run to the car, not in here to save me." He said. "But I love my husband and would never send him in where I could lose him without having his back!" Sharon replied. "And that's why I married you!" Todd replied "Now go get my luggage, slave!" she hugged him, giggling at that thought. Todd got their luggage and all was quiet for the next couple days.

Delivery
The smell of pizza hit Chris the moment he opened the door. Someone in the back heard the bell tinkle and stepped up to the cash register to take his order. Chris took off his rain-soaked baseball cap and heard the water it hadn't absorbed hit the tiled floor.

All that is Mad Within
What lies within will all drive us mad . The house was yellow, shutters black. The mansard roof and ornate pillars gave it the perfect haunted Victorian feel Ella and Drake were looking for on their weekend stay in the north country. The golden sun hung low, the leaves of the trees surrounding were a burnt fiery orange. The black Beetle popped and cracked along the gravel as they pulled up the long winding driveway. What caught their eye the most though was the deep dark water to the west of the dwelling.

Dependent
Drip Drip Drip The echo of the dripping sink faucet reverberated through every part of Vicki Levitt’s being as she scrubbed the bathroom floor. It was basically unused since Gavin had last been there; maybe a year, maybe two since the last relapse. Tim, her husband, had made it clear: if he goes out again, he doesn’t come back.

The Sound
How it has tried, but my tortured, everlasting soul cannot forget that sound. I had been living in the house for almost two years without any issue more dire than the shower water running cold just a little bit too quickly for my comfort. I loved the house. I felt entirely comfortable residing there. Then there was the sound, and in one moment my whole life, and everything I believed about death, suddenly changed for all time.

Caller Unknown
Arin sat straight up in bed, gasping for air, his sheets and pajamas soaked in blood. He squeezed his eyes shut tightly, forcing the nightmarish images from his mind. His chest heaved in and out methodically, struggling to slow his breathing and regain some margin of control over his body. When he opened his eyes again, there was no blood. The sticky substance that covered his bed was only sweat.
