Reed Alexander's Horror Review of 'Split Second' (1992)
Sleep well and dream of electric sheep. Rutger Hauer (1944-2019)There were, of course, far more iconic movies to review for Rutger Hauer. But none affected me and my love of horror as much as this movie did. Movies like Split Second are the reason I became obsessed with horror, and eventually became a horror critic and writer.

The Long Way Home (Part 4)
Walking through the woods looking around. Making sure nothing is following. I can't help but think about the creature. Still wondering where it came from. Why was the map blacked out? Why the fences? Why the secrecy? Questions I should have just left alone.

Reed Alexander's Horror Review of 'The Possession of David O'Reilly' (2010)
Everyone who's a fan of my reviews, knows I'm not a fan of 'Shaky Camera.' There are exceptions to this, as with all things, but I feel it's a band wagon most studios need to start falling off.

'The Dead Don't Die' (2019) Review
A bizarre melting pot of comedy, conventions, and concepts. From its hyped opening at Cannes, to its wide release, the reception for Jim Jarmusch’s The Dead Don’t Die (2019) has been a mixed bag. The same can be said of the film itself. Riffing off of films such as Zombieland (2009) and more directly the Romero classics, Night of the Living Dead (1968) and Dawn of the Dead (1978). In it’s humour and genre-informed characters and also in it’s critiques of humanity and society. The Dead Don’t Die is a zombie film with something to say, but what that is exactly gets lost in translation.

Scream Queen Doom
A part of me always gets excited when a favorite franchise of mine, be it horror or otherwise, is coming back in some way. Even if it's a reboot. Whether I end up watching it or not is another story. It's no secret that slasher franchises never die in way or another.

'Look Away' - Review (Netflix)
Maria Brennan (India Eisley) is an awkward, unpopular, seventeen-year-old high school student, who lives with her parents; plastic surgeon, Dan (Jason Isaacs) and her mother, a pill dependent, mildly depressed, Amy (Mira Sorvino). Aesthetics matter a lot to Dan.

A Little Spill of Blood
A girl in her young adult years stalked the darkness. Her hood loomed over her face, as she slunk silently in the black empty streets. Bounding up the side of the building she jumped up, passing the last few rungs of the ladder and flung herself to the opposite side of the building's roof. “Are you there? Yes, of course he is. Why would anyone miss an opportunity for a free woman?” She glared watching her prey: a woman crossing the road laughing and giggling like a child. Tripping up the curb, they chuckled and fell into the building the girl watched from. Waiting a few moments, she slunk back to the ladder and sought out her victim.

Family Man
The black ink blotches fall on the thin paper from the crushed pen in my hand. This is the hand that is a part of the problem; a roadblock is what it also could be called. Whatever I call the problem, I still suffer from it and have become uncontrollable lately. When I was out with the family, I had a sudden urge to grab my wife by the neck. When we were walking with each other as the kids ran ahead of us, I saw her neck. I wanted to do something, then later today it was worse. My wife had brought an idea to my attention, to go out and have dinner without the children. If we were to go out and have a little fun, then that would relieve some stress the kids have given us. We have twins, they both are the age of seven, both boys, and they are robustious. Thankfully they exist actually, because if they weren't born, I would have done something to their mother. I wish I didn't have this inside me to force me to do horrible things. Accepting her offer, we went out with no children to run around with toy planes in hand. We had a refuge from everything, from crying to stomping at the restaurant. Still, I have a problem, a problem I cannot control; when I get the urge, I go to the restroom or somewhere so I won't expose myself. Luckily, when we were out, I wasn't suspicious when I went to the restroom.
