What If Eren Yeager Was Still Alive? We All Want This to Happen - Attack on Titan!
Anime!

Let's be real, Attack on Titan ended, and we all felt that weight of Eren Yeager's fate. The finality of his death was powerful, but down deep, don't we all just really wish Eren was still alive? After everything he went through, everything he sacrificed, it's hard not to imagine a different ending. What if, just what if, Eren was still out there, alive and ready to make his mark on the world once again?
At the end of Attack on Titan, Eren's journey finally came to a tragic and emotional close. Mikasa's heartbreaking act of ending his life was the culmination of years of struggle, love, and loss. We saw Eren as a boy with big dreams of freedom, growing into a man who made decisions that ultimately defined the fate of the world. And yet, he did it all with the belief that his actions would bring some sort of peace, even if it cost him everything.
But here's the thing-what if Eren wasn't really gone? What if there's a way for him to still be alive, hidden somewhere in the world, watching everything unfold from the shadows? It's a tantalizing thought.
Eren was always a character who defied expectations. He made choices that no one else could have, some for the better and others for worse. The evolution he underwent-from the carefree boy we met at the beginning of the series to the determined, almost cold figure he became-was quite jarring. It often felt like he was a step ahead of everyone around him, pushing all of them to the edge, questioning the morality and limits of each person. If anyone could pull off faking their death—or surviving against all odds—it would be Eren.
Imagine this: a world where Eren never truly died, where he continued his journey of redemption or perhaps continued his fight for freedom. Maybe he is out there somewhere, working in the shadows, ensuring that the peace he fought for is not taken away. Maybe he's watching over Mikasa and Armin, knowing they will carry on his legacy in ways he never could.
We knew Eren's love for Mikasa was deep, complicated, and often unspoken. He kept pushing her away, telling her that she wasn't free, yet always pulling her back into his orbit. What if, after his "death," Eren still loved her from a distance? What if he never wanted to see her suffer because of his choices? Could his absence in her life have been a final act of love, even though it broke her heart?
There is also the question of his humanity: Eren's decisions to start the Rumbling and wipe out most of the world were abhorrent, but desperation to protect his friends and people was a motivation behind those decisions. What if, in his survival, Eren saw a new way forward, a path to heal the wounds he caused? Could he use his influence to unite the world in a way that wasn’t born out of violence, but through understanding and growth?
It's not just a wish for a character to survive, but more of a wish for closure. Throughout Attack on Titan, we never got all the answers, and most of us are still at war with whether Eren was right or wrong in his pursuit of freedom. What if he came back to provide that closure? Could he face the consequences of his actions and finally understand the true meaning of freedom?
Let's be real: we all want more Attack on Titan. The world is so rich, the characters so complex, and the questions they left behind-morality, sacrifice, freedom-are still begging for answers. And who better to answer them than Eren Yeager?
So, what if Eren was still alive? What if there was more to his story, a chance for redemption, a chance for healing? Perhaps this is a hope that we hang onto because it's simply easier to believe that the journey is not over, but inside of all of us, we really know it: no matter what happens, Eren's story can never actually be over. Whether he lives or dies, his impression on the world of Attack on Titan is set in stone, to resonate for generations to come.
What are your thoughts? Would you want Eren to return? Would it change everything, or would it serve as a betrayal of it all that we have learned thus far? Let's discuss that because no matter what, we all still grapple with what Eren chose to do.
