Tom Holland’s New Spider-Man 4 Suit Could Set Up Venom & Avengers: Secret Wars
Venom & Avengers: Secret Wars

Tom Holland’s new suit in Spider-Man 4, also known as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, could be setting up a possible Venom twist in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.
As Marvel Studios‘ Spider-Man: Brand New Day officially begins production, fans have been treated to their first official look at Holland’s new suit. Not much is known about the movie’s plot at this time, but it’s a good-looking costume, and it’s also exciting to see that some progress is being made on the film.
What becomes of Spider-Man in Brand New Day remains to be seen; however, the fact that he is getting a new suit could be setting up some sort of Venom reveal.
How Spider-Man met Venom in the Avengers: Secret Wars comics
There have been two Secret Wars events in Marvel Comics: the first of which was a 12-issue crossover by Jim Shooter, Mike Zeck, and Bob Layton. Published in the 1980s, the basic storyline sees a cosmic entity called the Beyond bring a large handful of Marvel characters, both good and evil, to a planet he created called Battleworld, where they are all then told to “slay their enemies.”
Battleworld is full of all kinds of weapons, technology, fortresses, and more, so when Spider-Man’s suit becomes damaged throughout the event, he’s in luck to discover there’s a device there that can fix his costume. Using this device, however, releases a symbiotic which covers his body and gives him a new, all-black costume.
This symbiote is, of course, Venom. However, Venom doesn’t make an actual appearance in Secret Wars. It’s not until Peter returns to Earth, discovers the symbiote is trying to permanently bond with him, and detaches it from his body that it then bonds with Eddie Brock, and Venom is created.
The Spider-Man 4 suit could be setting up a new Venom storyline
Avengers: Secret Wars likely won’t be adapting the 1980s comic storyline — if anything, there’s a far better chance it’ll pull inspiration from the 2010s event by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić. However, that’s not to say there can’t be some Easter eggs and homages in the forthcoming Avengers movies that could potentially give us some Venom.
Venom is already a thing in Earth-616/Earth-199999, too, as we saw Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock visit that world at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Not only did he visit the world, but he also left a piece of the symbiote behind before leaving.
The new Spider-Man 4 costume reveal, then, might be the costume that ends up bonding with the symbiote. Holland’s casting in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars hasn’t yet been confirmed, though fans are expecting he’ll show up somewhere in there, and a reveal where he shows up in an all-black suit would certainly create plenty of chatter.
Plus, while Sony’s Spider-Man Universe appears to be dead at this point in time, that could also potentially lead to the Venom/Spider-Man crossover that Hardy was talking about when Venom: The Last Dance was being released in some way, shape, or form. Maybe Knull could even come back? The MCU is a big place, after all.
