The fifth and final season of Prime Video‘s hit The Boys has wrapped filming, and as the final cuts take shape at the streamer, Eric Kripke‘s twisted superhero series prepares to bid fans adieu.

While it may be sad to say goodbye, there are still plenty of exciting milestones to look forward to as we gear up for the final fight between unrestrained Supe Homelander (Antony Starr) and his vigilante counterpart, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban). Although Season 5 details for The Boys have been kept fairly under wraps, there is a lot that we already know, including information about upcoming guest stars, a potential premiere date, and much more. Scroll down for a closer look at all of the need-to-know details for The Boys Season 5, and stay tuned for updates in the months ahead.

Who is new to The Boys Season 5?

The show’s official social media account announced that Daveed Diggs, best known for his roles in Hamilton and Snowpiercer will step into a mystery role yet to be revealed. “New S5 crumbs… let’s all welcome Daveed Diggs to The Boys family, shall we? He’ll be playing a character in the show. That’s all ya get for now,” the post teased. He’s the first new cast member announced for the show’s final season, but there are plenty of favorites sure to return.

It has since been announced that Stranger Things alum Mason Dye would join the cast for Season 5 in the role of Bombsight, a character who was previously mentioned on the show but not seen. The reveal was made on The Boys official social media account, which shared a photo of Dye with the caption, “Let’s give a warm welcome to Mason Dye, joining as Bombsight in Season 5. More details, you ask? Ya know better by now.”

Additionally, creator Eric Kripke hasn’t been shy about teasing the upcoming Supernatural reunion set to take place as Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins join in on the Season 5 fun. Together, they’ll join Jensen Ackles, who currently features as Soldier Boy. Kripke confirmed to TV Insider, “It’s a blast. We already shot it… I will confirm that Jared, Jensen, and Misha are all in the same frame together, and in the same storyline, and interacting with each other.”

Since then, Padalecki spoke about his upcoming appearance at the Fan Expo Boston, and revealed some interesting information about when fans will see him in the show. According to Collider, Ackles told fans, “My character is very excited to meet Soldier Boy.” Additionally, he stated, when it came to the Supernatural onscreen reunion, “It’s Episode 5 of Season 5. I think they’re putting out the first four episodes, and then a little bit of time, and then the final four episodes.” In other words, Padalecki seems to indicate a staggered release for Season 5 is on the horizon, and if it is presented in two halves, he won’t appear until the second. No official word has been shared by Prime Video, though, so only time will tell.

Who is returning for The Boys Season 5?

While no official confirmations have been made, it’s expected that Antony Starr, Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan will return to reprise their respective roles. It was revealed during The Boys panel at San Diego Comic-Con that Jensen Ackles would also be back as Soldier Boy, who is slated to feature in his own prequel spinoff Vought Rising alongside former Boys star Aya Cash as Stormfront. Ackles will appear in a series regular capacity, and his return was teased in Season 4’s final moments when Homelander (Starr) uncovered his body which was under forced sleep.

Alonso teased the cast’s return for filming with a group photo on Instagram featuring many of the stars mentioned above. “And just like that….. we’re back! @theboystv #Season5 #letsgo,” Alonso captioned the image of the team sitting around the dinner table.
