Drifting Down Dawson’s Creek
The late 90’s and early 2000’s is a near but distant memory of my youth. However, I’m reminded of a time in my life, when I’d just finished high school and a young college bound adult with my life ahead of me. This was a time when tv shows were simply swoon worthy. A time when, I didn’t hesitate to be in front of the television on a Tuesday night watching one of my favorite shows! With that said, today, in the now, some 20 plus years later, my #quarantinelife guilty-pleasure is reliving my teenage and early college years through, “Dawson’s Creek!”

The Challenge
What do you do on a day off, or a good weekend? Probably pick a show to binge watch and order pizza or your go-to take out meal, and snack on everything in sight. Or at least, that’s what most people do. Especially during this time of a panorama, I mean pandemic. I really hate saying that word. A month from now, we would have been in this “pizzeria” for a year now.

A Paranormal Bouquet of Inspiration
The X-Files has always held a special place in my heart. From staying up late anxiously awaiting a new episode as a child, to enthusiastically binge watching it as an adult, the show has always maintained its allure. It incorporates many mythos and urban legends, has excellent contrast between personalities, contains resilient characters, invites viewers to question constructs, and is chockfull of nineties nostalgia.

The 10th Kingdom
The year was 2002 and a summer ritual was beginning. Having spent our Saturday at the local amusement park, Magic Springs, we were sticky from our humid adrenaline quest, but full of bologna and cheese sandwiches and the fizz of off-brand cokes. We shuffled into a Hastings entertainment store in search of the perfect unwind. The store offered everything from CDs and books to DVDs and VHS rentals.

Passing the time with 'Criminal Minds'
Over the past several years, the “true crime” genre has exploded and public fascination with serial killers is at an all-time high. While I wouldn't call my self a murderino, I have explored the genre via some of the popular the podcasts Crime Junkie, My Favorite Murder, True Crime Obsessed. The names of these podcasts invoke the addictive quality of these stories and fan culture—your favorite murder ocupying the same mental shelf as your favorite food or favorite color.

SM:TV Was Brilliant
If you were a 90’s kid in the UK, you got up every Saturday morning to watch this show. The weekends always went off with a good start thanks to this show. It got everybody involved. The kids always had a laugh. The adults got some of the jokes that kids wouldn’t get and there was no filters. The presenters were big kids themselves. There has never been another show like it and since the show ended, Saturday mornings have never been the same. The sketches were fantastic.

WWBD
"What would Buffy do?" "Huh?" "Buffy!" I admit it. I arrived late to the game. When "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" started running on the former WB television station, I was working three jobs and watched almost nothing on TV because I didn't have time. As a single mother of teenagers, any spare time I had was devoted to keeping them from doing stupid things.

My Binge-Worthy Guilty Pleasure
I’m a classics kind of gal. The more the story plays, the more I get intrigued. It doesn’t matter if I’ve seen it 100 times, I will still laugh at every moment as if it’s the first time. Sometimes I find myself sitting in front of my iPad (because who watches tv anymore?) and dozing off to too familiar episodes. One time I dreamt that I’d slipped into a scene and couldn’t get out! I ran around with the all too obnoxious characters as they taunted their neighbor with menacingly innocent vibes. Before I knew it, I was back in bed feeling like a kid again.

The Vampire Diaries
I first got into The Vampire Diaries back in 2014 when my marriage was falling apart. I mean I was the only one who saw it falling apart, but none the less it was. TVD was my escape. I remember sitting on the stairs of our cozy townhome. Headphones in, and my two kids running around with their father and I had no desire to participate in the day today. I drowned out the sound of a collapsing marriage and my inability to cope with my life as a mother by throwing myself into a show that awoke so many hidden desires and emotions inside of me. I probably binged through the first couple of seasons without a breath in between. I remember losing sleep over this show and talking about it with co-workers the next day. I think we were all collectively going through our problems and this was an escape we could all relate to.

Riverdale may be a dumpster fire but it is MY dumpster fire
There's a scene in season 2 of Riverdale wherein teenager Archie Andrews is surrounded by a group of shirtless teenaged boys who are part of a new collective called The Red Circle as he threatens the Black Hood for terrorizing their beloved town with pep.
