Can't Wait for Lucifer's Return?
Lucifer won't need to use his mojo to find out what it is you truly desire because we're all eagerly anticipating the second part of Lucifer Season 5. But unfortunately, Netflix just confirmed we have another 2 months to wait.

If You Like Twin Peaks, You’ll Also Like Haven
When choosing something to watch on tv, many viewers seem to make a decision based upon what type of genre they want to be entertained by at that moment. Have they had a stressful day and want some comedy to uplift their spirits? Are they feeling melancholy and want a good drama to match their mood? Is it Halloween where scary horror movies might be needed to increase the feel of the holiday? Is it Valentine’s Day with no date where a satirical romance might help lighten the day? Or are they stuck at home during a pandemic and in need of some serious binge watching that covers many tv genres to keep them glued to the screen so they can forget about what’s happening in the real world, at least for a little while?

Wild landscapes and constrained behaviours: Westworld vs The Crown
As a librarian I am very accustomed to making recommendations, whether solicited or not, whether welcome or not. I love the conversation, the questioning. It’s not unlike choosing a restaurant meal. What do you feel like? What mood are you in? Would you like to be adventurous or safe? Books, movies, songs, cuisine, the same process applies. Do you go off piste or do you take the well travelled path, the familiar flavours or foreign food, the well-thumbed or freshly cracked spine?

If You Loved The Queen's Gambit, Then Meet The Queen of Comedy
The Queen’s Gambit is arguably the biggest television hit of the last year. Not to be cliché, but nearly everyone has been talking about it. It has skyrocketed Anya Taylor-Joy to household name status, raked in Best Limited Series and Best Actress awards at this year’s Golden Globes, and is responsible for hundreds of thousands of people discovering a new-found interest in chess. Seriously. My family played more chess over Christmas holiday than we had in the last decade.

5 TV shows led by compelling female characters to watch after WandaVision
There was no way I could have possibly predicted just how wildly successful WandaVision would be. The first official live-action Marvel series to debut on the Disney+ streaming platform which depicts the relationship between a Sokovian woman with mutant abilities and her deceased synthezoid partner will certainly be a fun watch. I've enjoyed the Marvel Cinematic Universe and while I'm not a massive Marvel stan, I decided to give the show a chance... Although I doubted it would grab my attention as much as something like The Mandalorian did where I found myself counting down the hours until Friday.

If The Office, Then 30 Rock
A year ago, my girlfriend had never heard of 30 Rock. Today, she’s watching the series through for the third time and it has officially dethroned The Office as her favorite TV comedy. 30 Rock is quirky, absurd and chock-full of one-liners, like The Office, but it’s much snappier and a little more cerebral. Each scene is riddled with punchlines and character insights that will have you rolling on the floor, gasping for breath as tears of laughter stream down your cheeks. I love The Office, but 30 Rock is—straight up and down—simply a better show. That may sound like sacrilege to some of you, but the writing and acting in 30 Rock are both unparalleled as far as comedy television is concerned. If you don’t want to take my word at face value, I completely understand. Perhaps the 16 Emmy wins and 103 nominations that 30 Rock received—including three consecutive wins for ‘outstanding comedy series’—will convince you that you’re in good hands.

Rebooting the Power Rangers!
Movies plus a tv series for the modern series, a series for older fans, animations for younger fans. This one is going to be entertaining for everyone, it’s Morphin Time! Power Rangers started in the early 1990’ in America, as a reasonable way to produce an original entertainment series in America that had bigger potential than they realized.

A Brave New World of Japanese Animation
Sturgeon's law is a very lovely adage that postulates "ninety per cent of everything is crap." I'm a pretty cynical guy, so I would argue that the actual number is a lot higher. Still, either way, it does present an interesting obstacle you will likely face when experiencing a new medium of entertainment. Because if Theodore Sturgeon was correct, then when you take any random piece of media from any arbitrary genre, nine out of ten times, you will find it to be 'crap'. Often we dismiss entire genres of media due to a few bad experiences.

A Simple Search Party
If you’re anything like me, you’re always looking for a good old fashioned mystery-driven story arc to occupy your time (and distract you from everything going on in the real world that no one has the answers to right now). That’s why, during the abundance of binge-watching time I had during my furlough in 2020, I was so delighted to finally get around to watching A Simple Favor (2018).
