Rebooting the Power Rangers!

Vocal Challenge "If This, Then That"

By Sergio VanNessPublished 5 years ago 7 min read

Movies plus a tv series for the modern series, a series for older fans, animations for younger fans. This one is going to be entertaining for everyone, it’s Morphin Time! Power Rangers started in the early 1990’ in America, as a reasonable way to produce an original entertainment series in America that had bigger potential than they realized.

I am presuming you already know who the Power Rangers are if you’re reading this, but if you don’t here are some links for you to find out anything you want to know.

I would also recommend the episode of Toys That Made Us about Power Rangers on Netflix.

If I was going to reboot The Power Rangers, this is how I would manage it correctly the first time. I have taken the time to figure out how to properly reboot the series of Power Rangers that is presently owned by Hasbro. If you read this and they don’t produce this, you’re going to be disappointed & I will too. Cause I think I solved the method for how to maintain the strongest aspects of Power Rangers while carrying them into a modern age of entertainment.

I would separate the series down into 3 different ongoing series that is running pretty much at the same time. They will all be based on the present series of Power Rangers. This means we will be giving pretty long-term contracts to everyone in the first chapter of the series. I will be getting into each chapter in a moment but we have other factors to go over first. We are going to start with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as our reboot example for this article because it had the longest story out of the whole series going from Mighty Morphin all the way through In-Space was one long storyline.

First, I am going to set some ground rules that will be our bible.

    - We particularly concentrate on 1 series of Rangers at a time.

    - Each series of Rangers has 2 distinct forms of media entertainment that are considered the primary plot points of the series for the populace.

    - Then everything else is considered being side content that emphasizes the points established in the 2 main series.

    - All series will follow along the timeline in chronological order, except the Animated series & 2 Adult series.

    - The Films will be the significant events

    - The Series will build up to significant events

    - There will be 2 Adult series: one that reflects the Boom Studios comics' darker storylines & one that’s a what-if series where we can produce all kinds of content for.

    - The contracts for whoever we bring to perform that role, will have it for our series permanently if they ever get called back to the series. This is to honor the resurgence of older Rangers that the original series did that the fans loved.

    - The Power Rangers Are All-Comprehensive. Everyone should be able to have proper representation in Media.

    - Zords, Monster Battles, & Puddy Patrol oh my!

    - It can be dangerous and be ludicrous in a positive sense at the same time. The series is about expressing an entertaining story just as often as it is for the series to deliver a message. It’s not a complicated concept to accomplish either. The series Dino Thunder is regarded by just about everyone as the best series for a reason, and that’s because it hit all the correct areas. Now let’s give that an enormous budget.

    - Origin movie (first big bad), series season 1 & 2, 2nd movie (6th ranger), series 3 & 4, 3rd movie (defeat of the original big bad), series 5 & 6, 4th movie (loss of powers to the actual big bad), series 7 & 8, 5th movie (defeat of the actual big bad), series 9 & 10. New Rangers origin Movie (A new big evil, passing on the torch). New Rangers every 10 years. This gives guaranteed employment for people for 10+ years as well.

    - The animated series will be for children of all ages doing all kinds of educational content on YouTube and being able to open up the gate for making an endless supply of toys.

    - Leave room for correction.

    - Live-Action movies must use Practical Effects along with Digital Effects. Practical Props. Cosplayers shouldn’t be able to produce a better costume for cheaper than us. At best, they should be able to contest us with a high-budget cosplay. We need to create relics to be returned back later and to weather the test of time. No shortcuts.

    - With new Rangers comes new product! New Rangers doesn’t automatically mean different actors but instead a shift in title and theme. That is a specific series of Rangers.

    - There are 5 chapters to each series. The beginning, no longer amateurs: the tremendous loss, the come back, the actual big bad evil guy, the loss of powers, and the defeat of the BBEG.

    - The defeat of the BBEG is the conclusion of the series, not the loss of Ranger Powers.

How I would do Reboot the Power Rangers:

    - Videos, ages 9 and under, animation: educational content, toys, YouTube videos, and this circumstance the people who we have gotten signed up to perform in the live-action entertainment will have something else they can do to produce something extra (this will be optional not mandatory).

    - Live-Action Series, 10+: This Series and the films will have the same actors performing the rangers in them. The series will be the standard 22 episodes 30 minutes apiece series with the standard episode Arks. Bad guy sends monster, monster beat rangers once while they engage in “Putty Patrols”, the villain leaves, the rangers regroup, they clash again and best the villain, it becomes bigger, robot battle and Kaiju fight, rangers win and learn something along the way about being a stronger person. Sometimes there are evil rangers, periodically there are villains that turn good, but overall the same formula with a bigger budget and more durable props that can be utilized between the films and the show. This show will be what goes on between the film. They will build-up to the films.

    - Films, PG-13, live-action/practical effects/animation: The films are for significant events, like the origins of each series of rangers, it will have some classic formulae but you can expect the revelation in the films to again apply to the revelation in the original series. Evil rangers, loss of powers, defeating the BBEG for good, situations like that. Again, these will be the same actors for the TV series.

    - Mature Series 1, 16+ years old, live-action/practical effects/animation: This series would reflect the BOOM Studios comics more sharply while providing a modern take on what the Power Rangers suits would look like in real life that would make cosplayers lose their minds in how magnificent they are. This series won’t have the same performers in it as the New main live-action series and films. Instead, they could look at individuals who have played rangers from Power Rangers and Super Sentai to return for this.

    - Adult Series 2, R, live-action/practical effects/animation: The What If Series for Power Rangers! Darkness, Death, Sex, and more there would be no limits on this series. They could provide opportunities to past Power Ranger & Super Sentai actors to come back to do all kinds of random phenomena. What if Tommy was the Red Ranger instead of Jason, and Jason was the Green Ranger? What if the Power Rangers were able to simply beat Tommy but didn’t save him cause they assumed he was a villain and not human? What if Bill turned Evil? What if the Power Rangers and the Super Sentai actors switch series along with Ranger Powers? What if Zordon never sealed Rita away? What if the Psycho Rangers were good and the Power Rangers are evil? So on and so forth.

Merchandising! Oh, the Merchandising Gold Mine, if developed this way by Hasbro. I mean it’s Hasbro they already have their fingers dipped in everything major toy-related. This would definitely turn into a billion-dollar franchise if they just did right by the Power Rangers fan base if they produced “Real Replicas” (it looks like a legitimate version of the item created with solid metals if it’s the Original Power Weapons then they are authentic versions of those weapons, it actually functions as intimately as possible how it works in the series, so if those weapons combined in a particular way they would be capable to do so in real life if you had them all as well) as limited collector items like only making 100 Million of each item (that’s it), If they made cosplay props and costume, and did all the normal toy merchandising they already do. There is no way these items wouldn’t sell extraordinarily well cause history has previously demonstrated it would.

Thank you to the Power Rangers for all the fascinating and pleasant memories you have provided us! Thank you to everyone connected with the series and the Super Sentai series. Your impact on the World and Society will never be forgotten.
