My Review of 'Kara Bela'
First of all, how did I find out about this movie? Well, this past summer, I was in Turkey, and one of the airlines we took was Turkish Airlines. There weren't any western movies playing on that plane, but they did have a lot of Turkish films. I was in Turkey, why not check out a Turkish film? So I picked the wackiest looking cover art that was available and that so happened to be Kara Bela.

The New 'Fruits Basket' Review
Funimation has put out a new animated version of Fruits Basket. The story is following the manga, and is lasting longer, but it has many changes including more accurate voice portrayals, the animation obviously, and Kyo doesn't like Chives. Not Leeks anymore, but Chives. Here is my review so far with 16 episodes in, and why you should watch this one AFTER watching the original.

'Batman: Hush' Gets Surgical Improvements
Batman: Hush is the latest installment in the DC Animated Movies Universe, which resulted from time travel depicted at the end of Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, and began properly with Justice League: War. This universe started out as mostly an adaptation of The New 52 relaunch of DC Comics. But over the last couple of years, it has incorporated adaptations of older DC stories, including Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, The Death of Superman, and Reign of the Supermen, all of which are re-contextualized, so that they fit within the timeline of this universe.

My Review of 'The Lion King' 2019
I know a lot of people have reservations for The Lion King. The old 90s Lion King movie is, and will always be, a classic to some, so a lot of people already have their minds set for this movie. I liked the old movie, but didn't have high expectations for the new movie. I try to keep an open mind, but I realize the movie may also be ruined, because I already know what's going to happen.

'Swiped' - Review (Netflix)
Ann Deborah Fishman should never be allowed to write or direct a film again. She should definitely not be allowed to write again. I’m not too sure she has encountered other people or overheard a conversation before. As for her grasp on relationships and their intricacies, on the evidence of Swiped, her film on Netflix, it is pretty tenuous. Let me explain.

My Viewing This Stevening... 'Mary Poppins Returns'
When Mary 'olds your 'and, you feel so grand, your 'art starts beatin' like a big brass band! Never has a film so perfectly and consistently defined my childhood than Mary Poppins. Initially released more than 20 years before I was born, it's one of my earliest memories of watching a film, captivated by the music, the colours of the animated sequence, and the jollity of the overall story. It was, and still is, one of the peaks of every childhood, and will likely remain so for generation after generation. Despite being released in 1964, two years before good old Walt Disney passed away, it is, quite literally, a timeless classic. That is due to, in no small part, the performances of Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, so why even bother trying to make a sequel? Sure, the character of Mary Poppins is derived from a seven-book series by P. L. Travers, but when the original told a story so complete, and so meaningful for many generations, was it really worth revisiting the Poppinsverse? Of course, the sequel more than 50 years after the original was a cynical cash-grab by Disneycorp, but thankfully, the sequel managed to retain the magic and spirit of the original, while introducing something new along the way.

'A Simple Favour' - Review (Netflix)
Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) is a widowed, single mother who, after the death of her husband, started a cooking vlog. She is overly nice and volunteers for every activity at the school her son, Miles (Joshua Satine) goes to, much to the irritation of the other parents.
