‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ Wasn’t That Bad (Or Good)
Like Prince of Persia (2010), I had completely forgotten that The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (2010) existed. (Apparently, 2010 was the year for forgettable live-action Disney films.) The only thing I remembered about the film was when David (Jay Baruchel) was training to be a sorcerer and a ball of energy hits him in the crotch. Needless to say, I had pretty low expectations for the re-watch.

Stranger Than Fiction - A Movie Review
Either I’m hearing voices in my head or I am a character in a story. Stranger Than Fiction was released to theaters in 2006. Harold Crick hears a voice. This voice narrates his life as if he is living in a story. As he is trying to figure out what is happening, Harold makes an effort to live the life that he has avoided upon learning of his imminent death.

Uncut Gems Sends You Over the Edge
Studio : A24, Netflix Poster An online search of the word fuck yields 57 hits on Ronald Bronstein's screenplay of Uncut Gems. The number actually seems low. Nonetheless, I’m no Puritan and a targetted search on my daily dialogue would go well beyond that tally. But the four letter onslaught does a pretty good number on your sensibilities and helps makes this 2019 film painful to watch. Of course, the profanity that follows the tenuous life a gambling addict is far from the only excess that makes this boisterous cut hard to endure.

My Review of "Desperados"
Desperados kind of came out quietly on Netflix. That's the case with a lot of Netflix exclusives especially during the pandemic. I barely heard any press on it but luckily enough it was suggested by Netflix to me. It kind of has the same feel as the movie The Wrong Missy even though the movies are pretty different from one another.

My Review of "Robocop (2014)"
Robocop (2014) is a movie I kind of shied away from when it first came out. At the time there were a wide array of remakes and I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to take another one. I barely remember the first Robocop movie in the 80s but I remember it was a bit of a satire of commercialism in society much like many of Paul Verhoeven films were about back in the day. The focus on this movie is a little different.

Home Before Dark
Home Before Dark, by Riley Sager, is a psychological thriller that makes you want to read more. Each chapter introduces a new piece of the puzzle, sometimes bringing you closer to what you expect to be the resolution, but usually throwing in a new plot-twist that keeps the reader enthralled. I can’t tell you how many times I stayed awake after my boyfriend had fallen asleep because I needed to read just one more chapter (if you’re an avid reader, you know 1 more chapter is a lie if it's a book you’re enjoying). And THEN after putting the book down, I would stay awake trying to figure out the answer to the mystery and the central questions:

‘The Old Guard’ Kicks Ass and Should Make Names
Netflix’s record with original Hollywood action movies is patchy at best. When the so-so Extraction is among the finer examples of their big-name blockbusters, there’s something not working. With The Old Guard, though, they might hopefully have found a game-changer. It’s everything that previous A-lister action vehicle 6 Underground wasn’t. Where that was incoherent, chaotic, and offensively dumb, The Old Guard is focused, sharp, and surprisingly intelligent.

Palm Springs: The Best of Both Worlds (Movie Review). Top Story - July 2020.
Ever since I started watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine, I’ve been a massive fan of Andy Samberg. Of course, I had heard of his exploits on Saturday Night Live and as one of the members of The Lonely Island before, but it was after I saw him as Jake Peralta that I began to take notice of his incredible charm and talent for comedy. It was only natural, therefore, that I immediately plop myself down first thing in the morning when I heard that a new movie starring him titled Palm Springs, had been released on Hulu. I went into the movie completely blind and not knowing what to expect, and what I found was pleasantly surprising. Palm Springs is a light-hearted romantic comedy that can get surprisingly poignant at times, yet never loses itself in its more serious moments.
