Escapist Dream (Book Review): How It Represented and Satirized Geek Culture
For the past decade, geek culture has become larger and more popular than ever before. Gone are the spectacle-wearing losers and suspender-wearing dweebs, geeks nowadays flaunt their artistry in their works and sexiness in their cosplays. Everyone who used to criticize geeks, has to admit that they also like to watch and discuss the latest blockbuster movies and franchises.

Movie Review: 'Breaking Fast' is a Refreshing Twist on the Rom-Com
In terms of genre convention, those well worn, easily recognizable parts and pieces of a movie, stock characters, scenes you expect, tropes, and so on, Breaking Fast is among the most conventional of movies I have seen in some time. Breaking Fast is a romantic comedy right off of an assembly line in many ways. We have a stock protagonist, an almost too good to be true hunky love interest, and familial and cultural obstacles in place to trip up our happy couple.

My Review of "Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn"
Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn is a really long title name for a movie. As you continue to watch the movie and learn about Harley Quinn you start to understand why they titled this movie this way. I think the hesitation to this movie is probably that everyone was a little sore from the outcome of Harley's previous movie called Suicide Squad. I didn't think Suicide Squad was an absolute dumpster fire of a movie but I don't buy into hype when I watch movies either.

Thoughts on The Batman trailer
Let me preface these thoughts with a simple statement: I love superheroes, and my favourite superhero is Batman. Also, this is not a brief review of a small teaser. I believe fans of Batman often straddle the line between being the hardest critics of the Caped Crusader while at the same time defending him and his lore against fairly reasonable criticisms. I want to take a broader look at the recent background of Batman's big screen appearances, and what this teaser might mean for the future. If you want nothing more than a fan's thoughts on the trailer, scroll till you see the signal and read from there. With all those vaguries in mind, onwards.

Spongebob: The New Spongebob Movie is the worst thing in 2020 since the Coronavirus
Spongebob: The New Spongebob Movie is the worst thing to happen to 2020 since the coronavirus. This movie was so bad it made me wish that movie theatres remained closed, and it made me reconsider if they should ever reopen if this is the kind of shit Hollywood passes off as a movie nowadays.

Throw Momma From the Train - A Movie Review
Let me get this straight. If you kill my enemy, I have to kill your enemy? That’s insane! Throw Momma From the Train is a 1987 film about a bitter ex-husband who wishes his former wife dead. Overhearing, one of his students proclaims that if he kills his wife than the other has to kill his mother. Will they get what they want in this crazy plan?

Women on the Market in Westeros
Over the past several years, Western popular culture has seen an explosion in interest for the fantasy genre, erupting in 2011 when HBO premiered the television drama Game of Thrones. In the history of television, the popularity that Thrones has reached is unrivaled. The drama series and the books it is based on have both been praised for their intricate weaving of many plotlines, genres, and thematic specialties. As with any popular culture phenomena, Game of Thrones was privileged enough to have their own creative platform in which they can perform social critiques. While most of these criticisms are placed in a medieval and/or fantasy context, many lessons provided by Thrones are still relevant to its twenty-first century fan base.

A review of Midnight Sun
Not even a full paragraph in and I have to call Weirdo on something. In the Twilight canon, it is often mentioned that vampires are always always always cold. Like, big old blocks of perfectly sculpted ice. But here, Eddie boy says that his skin had cooled to match the air around him. Can’t work that way. Either Pires are heat sinks that are always freezing, or their temperature can change based on the temperature around them. Can’t be both.
