Breaking All the Rules
Breaking All the Rules Genres can be viewed as two things, an indicator of what to expect from a film, or a metaphorical barrier that segregates a film into a category and being viewed only as that. A primary example of this is from the film Get Out by Jordan Peele, the movie has all the elements of a horror movie but has been labeled as a comedy for award season this year. One thing that makes a film brilliant is the genre category it has been placed into, a movie with a weak story is likely to do better in the genre of comedy than in the drama category. Most moviegoers are likely to choose a film that is distributed by a large production company, features well known actors, and does not require much thought (action movies). The best example is the production company A24, their movies are often thought-provoking, well written, and well received by critics, but most people ignore them in favor of films that lack any form of originality. However, there has been one film that has managed to break through the barriers of genre segregation, a French film called Amélie.

The Lazy Sunday Guide
It’s the weekend yet you don’t feel like going out? Me either (like most Sundays, honestly)! Let’s keep those PJs on, get some popcorn, wine (since we all know a glass a day, keeps the doctor away ;) ) and get into Yoda mode. Many people have been asking me how I got interested in a more sustainable life. From not purchasing clothing of the “season” like most people to trying to produce less to zero trash. Everything I do and purchase is as environmentally friendly as possible. Even if that means doing hours of research about the companies and their practices. I’m not going to lie. I enjoy it. This research frequently leads me to new brands, places, and products that later become my favorite ones. What can I say? I guess I’m what people called a nerd. A sustainable nerd haha.

Not So Smart as the Critics, I Still Love National Treasure
Call me stupid but I love National Treasure. So of course, I know the historically based action adventure has never been well received by the critics. But I haven't read the reviews until now, and finally realize how stupid I am.

'Wonder Woman'
For me, the most appealing part of superheroes since I was a kid is that wish-fulfillment factor. It’s that idea that superheroes, with all their great strength, speed, and agility, are able to make the world a better place, and you can always depend on them to make the right choices. For children and adults, they have remained a reflection of our greater selves and an inspiration. As a young boy, there was no stronger image for me in movies than watching Christopher Reeve’s Superman fly up and save Margot Kidder’s Lois Lane from falling out of a helicopter. It filled me with that ideal that anything was possible, and it was always good to see someone do the right thing.

Why 'Deadpool 2' Is a Family Film
At first glance you're already thinking, 'What? No it's not.' And of course you're wrong. Five minutes into the film, Deadpool himself explains that yes, this is a family movie. Not a 'let your youngest watch it with you' kinda family movie, but actually a 'look, I found my own family through struggle and hardship' kinda way.

Movie Review: 'Upgrade'
Upgrade stars Logan Marshall Green as Grey, a normal man in a not so normal time. It’s somewhere in the near future and while Grey enjoys an analog existence working on cars, the rest of the world is digital, including the car his wife rides in without an actual driver. Grey is dubious of modern, convenient tech and soon he will have good reason to be dubious. After selling an old car to a billionaire, Grey and his wife are in a car accident in her supposedly accident proof vehicle.

Top Movies Not to Watch If You Fear What Is Lurking Beneath the Water
Have you ever wondered if there are teeth swimming around your feet and legs below the water? Maybe there is something darker staring up at you that you can not see. Something that is just waiting for the right opportunity to reach up and pull you down. Maybe there are cities full of unknown beings or creatures right below the spot where you are floating.
